Apothaka - vegan, cruelty free skincare brand you need to know about

(Post contains gifted product)

I've said it many times and I will do it again, discovering new, small brands thanks to my blog and social media channels has been the highlight of my blogging journey. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have discovered half of the awesome brands and products I have if I didn't join the beauty blogging community years ago. Even without having a blog but being interested in beauty and reading beauty blogs or following beauty communities on Instagram can be eye opening at how many small amazing brands are out there, brands you might not find in stationary shops or/and never hear about it otherwise.
And today I want to talk to you about Apothaka, small skincare brand which offers cruelty free, vegan, uniquely formulated, based on plant oils products.
Apothaka skincare products
I don't even remember how I came across Natasha, the brand's founder, on Instagram but it had to be through a person I follow who recommended her nail and cuticle oil. I struggled, at the time, with very weak, prone to splitting nails so I was looking for a solution for that after having tried many different products.  It's safe to say that Apothaka nail and cuticle oil has become my best friend and I've since tried a few other products from the brand and haven't been disappointed.
Just a few more words about Apothaka, although you can read the full story behind the brand here, it was founded by Natasha who at the time struggled with her skin and being in her 30s she found many products on the market not really addressing her skin's needs. As she was already passionate about beauty she started experimenting with different plant based ingredients, testing them on her skin and when she has found the perfect solution for herself, she offered her products to family and friends who also loved them. Encouraged by this success Apothaka was born.
Natasha researches and tests all the ingredients that goes into every product she creates, ensuring they benefit the skin but are also light enough not to clog it. Everything is hand made by her, in small batches to keep the products fresh for the longest. And her products' packaging is as environment friendly as possible.
Natasha is constantly studying and broadening her knowledge on skincare so she can deliver outstanding products. And on top of that she's the loveliest lady and offers excellent costumer service. I am really glad I have discovered Apothaka skincare and let me introduce you to the products I've tried and I'm loving.

Apothaka SOS Recovery Nail & Cuticle Oil
The one nail oil that has started my love relationship with the brand and one I can't see myself without. I had good results with some other nail & cuticles oils but the Apothaka offering just took the first place. It really helped my nails to get stronger yet flexible so they're not as prone to breaking and splitting, they also seem to grow faster then before. The main ingredients in this nail oil is organic Jojoba oil which nourishes and moisturises nails. There are also other oils which add to the nourishing properties of this little gem. The oil smells beautiful so you're left with nicely fragranced hands as well.
I highly recommend this nail & cuticle oil to everyone struggling with weak nails or/and everyone wanting to keep their nails healthy and strong. It's not an overnight miracle treatment but if you're consistently using it you should see an improvement in your nails and cuticles within few weeks.
Apothaka Barrier Support Serum, from £19.50 for 10ml, buy here

Apothaka Barrier Support Serum
This serum is the newest product in Apothaka range and one I was very excited to try it while I was following Natasha's posts on Instagram revealing the main ingredients and explaining their benefits for the skin. Once again, it's a product that aim to be effective but not overly complicated and suit most skin types without irritation or clogging possibilities.
This hydrating serum is designed to support, protect and replenish the skin barrier, allowing it to maintain its optimal hydration balance and keep skin healthy, with 5% niacinamide, ceramide complex & hyaluronic acid being the main ingredients.
Niacinamide is a water-soluble vitamin that works with the natural substances in your skin to help visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles. It also strengthens skin barrier function  resulting in better water retaining abilities of the skin so decreases chances of dehydration.
Ceramide complex it's a skin-identical lipid complex which contains 3 different types of ceramides, cholesterol and the ceramide precursor phytosphingosine to help form a protective layer and prevent moisture loss from the skin's surface. It strengthens the skin barrier and therefore helps keeping the skin healthier.
Hyaluronic Acid is a widely known humectant which instantly hydrates and plumps the skin.
I've not used the serum long enough to see the benefits of quite high Niacinamide content but what I can say is that the serum keeps my skin hydrated, soothed and balanced. It's a beautiful treat for irritated skin or one that its barrier was damaged by either over-exfoliating, using harsh, stripping products or skin treatments like retinol. Or for anyone really that wants to keep their skin healthy, hydrated and protected.
I will be certainly buying the full size next time as I love adding this serum to my skincare routine.

Apothaka Rejuvenating Face Oil

When I was placing the order for my two previous products I added a sample of this facial oil to my basket but Natasha very kindly sent me the travel size of it so I've had the chance to give it a good try, in fact the oil is still going strong as, like with most facial oils, you need only a few drops each time.
There are two variations of the Rejuvenating Face Oil, one for normal to combination skin and the other for normal to dry skin type. I have the one for combination skin because my skin leans towards oily skin type.
This is a very lightweight ye nourishing oil, some facial oils makes my skin feel like it's suffocating but not the Apothaka offering. The oil sinks into the skin quickly without leaving greasy residue but it still makes my skin feel moisturised and nourished. It contains a concoction of oils which easily absorb into the skin without clogging pores which is very important to me and that's why Natasha's skincare products are so appealing to me.
Some of the main ingredients are:
Hempseed oil- high linoleic oil suitable for all skin types, rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 with a very similar lipid profile to the skin. It's a relatively light oil and doesn't clog pores, so it's particularly ideal for skin prone to breakouts. It offers protective and regenerating properties thanks to its essential fatty acids that fight against free radical damage and stimulating the regeneration of skin tissue.
Safflower oil - rich in omega-6, this oil is said to stimulate cell regeneration and preserves the elasticity of the skin. The presence of active antioxidants in this oil provides a great protection for the skin. Despite its lightness and ability to easily penetrate the skin, this oil is highly nourishing and protective, helping to restore moisture to the skin.
Olive squalane (extracted from olive oil) - lightweight oil with a silky feel. It has antioxidant properties, it has an excellent affinity with the skin and is highly moisturising as well as reparative, giving your skin a glowing complexion.
Macadamia nut oil - softening and nourishing, is rich in oleic acid so it is highly effective at preventing moisture loss and is more moisturising than high linoleic oils.
Evening primerose oil - protective and regenerating oil, evening primrose helps restructure collagen fibres thereby slowing down the ageing process and restores suppleness of the skin.
Sea buckthorn oil - rich in vitamin E, carotenoids, omega -3 and omega -6 fatty acid this is a wonderful healing oil which stimulates the skin’s repairing mechanisms. High vitamin content (A and E), sea buckthorn oil is a powerful antioxidant which offers protection from free-radicals, one of the causes of premature ageing. This oil is highly emollient with excellent softening, smoothing and healing properties, therefore ideal for scarring.
If you'd like to read more about the ingredients that go into all Apothaka products I refer you to their website :)
I can truly recommend Apothaka brand and their products to everyone! Not only every detail, every ingredient has been thoroughly thought out but also, you will support a small business which, you can be sure, has its customers wellbeing and healthy skin at their best interest.
