Date night eye look created with ABH Modern Renaissance palette

My first beauty post of 2019 and it's a makeup look with step by step eye look tutorial. I had some more free time last week so decided to play with makeup to enjoy the process of creating it as opposed to applying it quickly before rushing to work/run errands :) It was fun and I definitely want to do it more often.
Seeing as Valentine's Day is just around the corner and many of you might be going out with your partners or friends I thought I will create an eye look that is a bit more romantic, sultry and perfect for a date or night out.

Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes are some of my favourites but, funnily enough, I hadn't used them in ages so I grabbed the Modern Renaissance and decided to focus the eye look on the pink shade called Love Letter, to get the Valentine's vibes. Although I was expecting a very pink toned look at the end it turned out a bit more purple-y but I still really liked it so let me show you how I created it step by step. I am focusing on eye makeup in this post and will only briefly mention the other face products used in this makeup look.

I always prep my eyes/lids before doing eye makeup by applying some concealer and setting it with powder. I also apply extra powder under my eyes to avoid messing up my face makeup with any potential fallout from eyeshadows. Once the eyes are done I just easily brush off the excess powder and spray my face with facial mist/setting mist to takes away the powdery look, which is not flattering on my, not so young anymore, skin.

I applied Love Letter to my inner and outer part of the lid connecting both parts in the crease but leaving the centre of my lid eyeshadow-free. I kept the application quite round, following my eye shape. I usually like to extend the eyeshadow for more of a cat eye look but with the halo/spotlight eye look I think it's best to keep it more rounded.

Using small blending brush I applied shade Raw Sienna into my crease and lightly above, again keeping the more rounded eye shape.

I deepened the crease and very inner and outer corner of the eye using shade Venetian Red on a more detailed blending brush.

I applied the same eyeshadows on my lower lid mimicking the way I applied them on my upper lid. I made sure lower and upper lid are nicely connected at the outer corner of the eye.

Using my finger I applied the shade Primavera in the centre of my upper and lower lid, I used NYX Glitter glue as an adhesive for the shimmery colour, mostly for it to have a bit more foiled look, you could use wet brush as well for the same effect.

To deepen a bit more the outer corner of my eye I used shade Cyprus Umber on a small brush and blended it lightly in the outer V of the eye. I also added a bit of the shade in the outer part of my lower lid.

To finish off the eye look I lined my upper lashes with black eyeshadow, as I do with all my eye looks for a bit more definition, subtly highlighted under my brows using shade Tempera and added shade Vermeer in my inner corner. I applied mascara to my lashes and added some falsies.

For my blush I used Flowerchild from the Becca duo I have and highlighted my cheek bones with Champagne Pop from the same compact.
I kept my lips simple and nude by applying one of my favourite lipsticks by Max Factor in shade 05 Nude.

This eye look would go really well with deeper lipstick as well if you wanted to add more drama, I used here one of my oldies but goodies, Nars Audacious Lipstick in Vivienne.

I hope you enjoyed this post from me and got some inspiration for your date night makeup look :)
If you'd like some more eye makeup ideas using the Modern Renaissance palette I have a 1 palette-3 eye looks post created a year or so ago for you to check out.

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? Are you planning anything special for that day this year?
We're not really that much into it, usually we get each other funny cards and have an excuse for a glass of bubbly but other then that it's just a normal day. We try to show each other love and appreciation on any given day :)
