One brand makeup look: Maybelline

First of all, how is it June already?? This year is certainly flying by!
Anyway, I'm here today to share with you quite an exciting post, one brand makeup look/tutorial focused on Maybelline :)
One day I was sorting out my makeup collection, as you do if your makeup junkie like I am, and realised that there are some brands I own quite a lot of products from and would probably be able to create a full look using just one brand's products. And that's how I've decided to start this new series on my blog. It won't be very regular but every time I will have enough products from one brand to create a full face of makeup then I will share that with you.
One brand makeup look: Maybelline

I decided to go with Maybelline first as it seemed like I had the most products from the brand but once I started gathering everything for the look I realised I need to get some extra things so that's how the not exactly necessary purchases happened, haha! But I have discovered some great products along the way so no regrets here :)
Primer: I don't wear foundation primer every day but I do when I want my makeup to apply better and to last longer and the Super Stay Primer from Maybelline (review) is really fantastic, it doesn't do much at blurring my pores or fine lines but it smoothes out the skin and keeps my foundation shine free for longer and it extends its wear time, while not being heavy or greasy. I highly recommend it to those of you who struggle with makeup sliding off from your face too quickly.
Foundation: I've been a big fan of their Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation (review) but for this makeup look I decided to use their latest addition to the range, the Dream Cushion Foundation in shade Nude (review) which I really enjoy. First of all, it gives really good medium coverage which surprised me as I always thought those cushion foundations are quite sheer, it has nice satin finish and it blends effortlessly, I use it with my beauty sponge, the actual applicator in the compact is useless in my eyes. This foundation doesn't last very long on my skin, even with primer underneath but I think it's a great foundation to take on holidays when you usually wear some makeup only in the evenings, as it looks nice on the skin and with its small compact it's very convenient to throw it in the makeup bag.
Concealer: I have recently talked about my favourite concealers and both, the Fit Me in shade Fair and Age Rewind in shade Brightener, have been included as they're just great. Fit Me works well as an all over concealer and the Brightener does what it says on the tin, it adds brightening effect to my under eyes. Both works great on my skin and, once set with a dusting of powder, last all day without creasing.
Powder: I always set my foundation and concealer with powder and the new Master Fix Setting + Perfecting Loose Powder has been working very well on my skin. It's a very finely milled powder which doesn't look cakey nor heavy and it makes my skin look and feel very smooth. It helps keeping my oils at bay and I don't find it drying so it's equally good to use under my eyes.
Bronzer, Blush, Highlighter: For my cheeks I used the Master Bronze Color and Highlighting Kit (review) which I've been loving lately as the formula is fantastic, very pigmented, so you need to use a light hand with those bronzers, blends seamlessly and it lasts all day on me without getting patchy. I usually mix all three bronzing shades to add some warmth to my skin and if I want more defined contour then I add a bit of the cooler toned shade in the hollows of my cheeks.
Because I don't own any blushes from Maybelline I just used the different shades of bronzers to add definition and colours to my cheeks. To highlight my skin I dusted the golden shade on top of my cheek bones, it's a quite subtle highlighter but definitely can be built up for higher intensity.
Setting Spray: for those warmer days I like to reach for setting sprays to ensure that my makeup will stay in place for longer, the Maybelline Super Stay 24H Setting Spray might not have the best, fine mist action but I find it does help my makeup lock in place, I just need to be sure I shake it vigorously before using and spray my face from at least 30-40cm distance to avoid white splatters on my face.

Brows: for the longest time drugstore was lacking some decent brow products but I've noticed recently many brands have brought out new ranges of brow pencils with a good selection of shades. I've been using the Brow Precise Micro Pen in Deep Brown and I really like it, it reminds of ABH Brow Wiz as it has very thin pencil and a spoolie on the other end. My only negative would be that it's ever so slightly too soft so it crumbles a bit and it seems like I will finish the pencil quite quickly. Other then that it's a good budget brow pencil.
Eyshadows: I actually didn't have any Maybelline eyeshadows, apart from a few Color Tattoos that I usually use as a base, so I decide to get one of their palettes to be able to create an eye look and also test it out to see if the quality of Maybelline powder eyeshadows has improved throughout the years.
I picked the latest 24Karat Nudes palette which contains 12 eyeshadows ranging from matte to metallic in pretty selection of shades. Most of the shades, especially mattes and metallic are really good quality and they perform really well on the eyes even without a primer but the lighter shimmer shades are a bit disappointing, although still pretty but need a good base underneath to show up as intense on the skin as I like it. Overall I think it's a pretty good palette, not necessary worth the full price but if you can get it on offer then it's definitely worth trying.
For my eye look I used the intense gold as it's a definite stand out in the palette, the bronze shade in the bottom row, the matte deep brown, black and as a transition shade I just used one of the bronzer shades from the cheek palette. On my lower lash line I used the purple shade from the palette.
Eyeliner: I've been pleasantly surprised with the Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner which has a very thin nib, it's very black and it lasts really well on my eyes. I rarely create winged liner but I can imagine this eyeliner would be fab for that as, just as it says, it is very precise.
Mascara: Maybelline has one of the best mascaras in drugstore in my opinion, their Lash Sensational has been one of my favourite for a long time but I've been testing recently some of their latest additions and I'm equally as impressed. The new Colossal Big Shot Volume Express Mascara* is great at adding volume and lots of definition to my lashes and separating them without getting clumpy. It also lasts all day on me without smudging.
I obviously used false lashes in the final look as I wanted lots of drama in my eyes and my lashes are not as impressive without them.
I also used a purple eye liner for my water line, unfortunately I didn't have one from Maybelline so used my Urban Decay one.
Lips: I think Maybelline has amazing lipsticks, especially their matte range has been getting praises for a long time and I finally know why after trying the Matte Nude Lipstick in shade Smokey Rose. The formula glides across the lips effortlessly, it's very pigmented, feels super comfortable yet it has semi-matte finish and it lasts very well throughout the day even with some light snacking and drinking involved. I highly recommend these lipsticks and I'm eyeing up some more shades even though, god knows, I don't need more lipsticks! haha! The shade Smokey Rose is quite rosy and I wanted more nude-y pink option so I first lined and filled in my lips with Color Drama Lip Pencil in shade Nude Perfection which also has an amazing formula and I own quite a few shades of these lip crayons.
And this is the finished look created with mostly Maybelline products :)
