PMD Personal Microderm, review and before & after photos

Anything that promises to make my skin look smoother, cleaner, brighter and more youthful looking will get my full attention. So when I was offered to test the PMD Personal Microderm* I agreed in no time, especially as I read many positive reviews on blogs that I follow and trust the bloggers behind.
The Personal Microderm is a revolutionary at-home skincare device that provides the same great results as professional, in-salon microdermabrasion treatments. By combining the power of exfoliation with a unique vacuum suction, the Personal Microderm works to remove the dead, dull skin cell barrier, increase blood flow and stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin.

PMD Personal Microderm

The Personal Microderm uses an exclusive Patented Spinning Disc with aluminum oxide crystals to exfoliate away the dead, dull cells on the surface of the skin. By removing this dead skin cell barrier, new cell growth is stimulated and renewed, revealing soft and glowing skin. Once this barrier is removed, skincare products fully penetrate the skin’s surface maximizing their benefits.
Alongside the spinning discs, the device uses a perfectly calibrated vacuum suction, this unique technology pulls the blood flow to the surface of the skin for increased circulation. This suction triggers the body’s essential healing process, which builds collagen and elastin and leaves the skin firm and radiant.

The PMD Personal Microderm box contains:
-the PMD device,
-7 exfoliating discs, for face and body, which different abrasion levels to suit different skin types,
-1 electric charger cord and three different plug adaptors,
-1 facial cap and 1 body cap,
-1 reusable filter,
-DVD and a leaflet with instructions on how to use the device.

It's very important to read and watch the instructions first, before starting treatments, to avoid making any mistakes and hurting your skin.

You need to start off with the most gentle, white disk, which is also used as a training disc and then progress to discs: grey, blue and green when you feel like your skin is ready. Every disc can last between 2-4 treatments and then needs to be replaced with a new one. It's important to avoid any chemical peels or retinols 48 hours prior and after the treatment as the skin might get too sensitive and over-exfoliated. Remember to use sunscreen during the day to protect the freshly renewed skin and allow 6-7 days between treatments for your skin to rejuvenate.
The treatment on the face lasts only a few minutes so it never feels like a chore. You can also use the bigger discs on your body but I haven't tried it that way yet.

My experience

Just as instructed I started my treatments with the white disc, and even though I watched carefully the DVD with instructions, I must have hovered the skin too slowly and got some red, sore marks on one of my cheeks. The redness lasted couple of days but the skin recovered and I was completely fine after that.
For the next treatment I chose the higher abrasion level disc, grey, and although I was a bit scared to use the device I didn't have any accidents. I learnt quickly how to make it work well without causing any irritation.
Then I progressed with blue and green discs for my following treatments.

There's no denying that after using the device my skin felt immediately soft and smoother but the real effect, that lasted more then just until the following morning, appeared after about 3rd treatment and when I finally switched to the green disc which has moderate intensity. My skin was soft, smooth and glowing not only straight after but the effect lasted for a few days.

Now I have used the PMD device 5 times I can see very clearly that my skin looks so much smoother and more radiant. My pores aren't as visible as before and my skin gets much less congested.

I hope you can see on the picture above (excuse the different lighting but the photos were taken weeks apart and probably during different time of the day) how much smoother my skin looks and its tone is more even. I am excited to keep continuing using the PMD Personal Microderm to help improve even further the appearance of my skin and maintaining it.

PMD Personal Microderm, RRP £135, is available directly from the PMD website , from Look Fantastic, QVC (cheapest at the moment) or Amazon. While it's an expensive gadget, it works out much cheaper then regular microdermabrasion treatments in a salon, even with purchasing new discs every few months. And definitely worth investing in it if you want to improve your skin's tone, texture, reduce the visibility of your acne scars or hyperpigmentation.

Have you tried PMD Personal Microderm? Did you have professional, in-salon, microdermabrasion treatments? Were you impressed with results?
