Sephora haul and my first impressions on the products

Last week I celebrated my birthday and my husband agreed that instead of buying me a surprise gift, as usual, I can place a Sephora order which I had wanted to do for ages. Obviously as a beauty enthusiast there are so many products I want to try but they aren't easily available in UK so my Sephora wish list is quite long. But I had to be sensible and order just a few products and leave the rest for another time. Even though Sephora offer flat shipping rate of £6 on orders over £75 there are taxes and duties to be paid at the checkout so the additional fees are quite high, I had to pay almost £30 on top of my over £100 order plus shipping.
So Sephora order is definitely a treat and what a better time to treat yourself then your birthday :)

I wanted to place a Sephora order but my main reason to do so right before my birthday was the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette ($49) which was available on Sephora website and believe me, it was a ridiculous hunt for it. For some reason this palette has been so hyped up that every time it went live on Too Faced website it sold out within minutes. I knew it will be available on Sephora website on the 29th March and as soon as I got up that day I was ready to place the order with other products that were sitting already in my virtual basket but the palette didn't go live for a few hours which I spent refreshing the page, yes, I'm that sad person, haha! Finally I was lucky to snap the palette before it sold out within few minutes again.
I knew I wanted the Sweet Peach palette since I saw the first announcements on Too Faced Instagram feed months ago, firstly because it's just as cute as the other Too Faced palettes, secondly because the shades look beautiful and perfect for Summer and thirdly, cause I need my collection to be complete, haha!
Apparently the Sweet Peach palette will be available in UK in May but I'm too impatient to wait this long.
So I got my hands on it and I'm very happy, although I wasn't blown away by it, but I will reserve my final thoughts on it for a separate post. Having mentioned that I'm still thoroughly enjoying using it and I think it's a beautiful palette.

Another brand on my Sephora wish list is Tarte and although we can get some of their products in UK via QVC website the selection of products is not the best. Tarte recently brought out a new Rainforest Of The Sea collection and while everything looks so pretty I was mostly intrigued by the Water Foundation ($39) as I've been on a major foundation kick and I'm desperately looking for that holy grail one :) I chose mine in Light Sand shade which is a very good match for my skin tone and I'm happy to say that it's a lovely foundation. The formula is almost serum-like, it contains 20% of water and it feels very lightweight on the skin. The finish is beautiful, very natural looking, not matte but also not very dewy, just like a healthy skin.
Tarte claims that the foundation is full coverage but I have to disagree, it's rather light to medium coverage but it evens out the skin tone and blur imperfection beautifully.
I'm still testing it but once I've formed a solid opinion on it I might post a detailed review if you're interested. FYI the foundation is available on QVC, just not all the shades.

I wanted to order one of the Sephora Pro brushes as so many people rave about them but instead I got the Tarte Rainforest Of The Sea Double-Ended Foundation Brush ($34) which was designed to go with the Water Foundation and I'm glad I did cause it's actually perfect with the it. And while most of the time I prefer to use my Beauty Blender with any foundation I find that it doesn't apply the Tarte Water Foundation that well and the brush gives me better coverage and finish. It's very soft, washes well and it looks beautiful! I have to admit that it was a bit of an impulse purchase but as it was my birthday present I justified it :)

While placing a Sephora order I couldn't miss the opportunity to try something from Kat Von D and of course I had to get one of her famous Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks ($20), I chose shade Mother which is a dusty mauve pink and I adore it, the formula is amazing and now I want more shades :)
I also chose a mini set containing Tatoo Liner in Trooper and Studded Kiss Lipstick in Magick ($18). So many people love the eye liner and now I can see why, the nib is absolutely perfect, the liner applies smoothly and it lasts on my eyes all day without smudging or transferring. The lipstick is a beautiful rosy pink shade with silver and pink shimmer, the formula is great, very pigmented and creamy yet it has a good staying power, I definitely want to try more shades.

You can see on the picture above the Gurlain Meteorites (£41) and although I didn't order it from Sephora they're part of my birthday present so I thought I would include them in this haul.
After falling in love with the effect Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders give to my skin I got intrigued by other finishing powders that promise the 'glow from within' look. Gurlain Meteorites are loved by many and I had wanted to try them so when Escentual was running 25%off all makeup I convinced my husband that it's the perfect opportunity to add this to my birthday present :)
At first I was a bit unsure if I'd like them as the powder seems more shimmery then the Hourglass powders (although there is not visible glitter) but I'm learning how to use them and I think I may actually prefer them to the Hourglass offering. And how stunning the packaging is!

As much as I love makeup I also love skincare so I definitely wanted to get something new to try when placing the Sephora order but with the order balance going very high very quickly I settled on a set of facial cleansers from the Sephora Favourites collection, Cleansing Ritual To Go ($20). I wish UK online retailers would offer similar collections with minis like Sephora does, this way you can try many products before committing to full size which is especially important with skincare as not everything works the same way for everyone.

This set contains deluxe size samples of Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser (30ml), Origins Checks and Blances Frothy Face Wash (30ml), Tata Harper Regenerating Cleanser (30ml) and Nude Omega Cleansing Jelly (15ml). I've only tried the Boscia cleanser so far but I'm already loving it, it instantly made my skin looking very clear without drying it out. I'm excited to try the rest of them, especially the Tata Harper cleanser as I've been eyeing up her products for a while but as they're very expensive I haven't invested in any.

So these are all the beauty products I was treated for my birthday, I'm happy with all of them and enjoy testing them out :)

Have you tried anything from my haul? Let me know if you're interested in a detailed review on any of these products.
