Makeup through the decades #7 - 1980s, collaboration with Angela from Chocolate and Lipstick

Don't we just love the 80s?! How colourful and crazy was that era?! Everything, from fashion and hair to makeup, was over the top, bold and daring. And I might be old and in minority but I just love 80s music :) Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Wham!, The Police, Europe, Queen, Bon Jovi and many more!
Even though I was growing up in 80s I was still too young to fully follow the fashion trends but I do remember them and while they make us laugh nowadays, you can't deny that they will be forever very characteristic to that decade.
Today's post is a collaboration with my blogging buddy Angela from Chocolate and Lipstick who created an awesome 80s makeup look inspired by the fabulous Cyndi Lauper, check out her post.

80s makeup was exciting and bold, exaggerated and generally followed the rule 'the more the better'. Somehow it was a manifest of the economic crisis that was affecting the Western world in particular. Gone was the 70s natural , glow-y look, it was time of heavy foundation, often shade or two lighter then the skin tone to really make all the colours to pop.
Eye makeup was dramatic, either very colourful, the most popular colours of eyeshadows were fuchsia, blue, green, purple, orange, or smokey dark with heavy black eyeliner.
Very characteristic to that decade was an intense blush used to contour cheeks, blending was almost none so a streak of pink or red along the hollows of cheeks was a common look.
Lips were also quite bold, pink, orange or red, glossy with frosty finish.
80s makeup tutorial

To recreate the 80s makeup look I reached for the Urban Decay Vice 4 palette (review) as the shade 1985-deep fuchsia,  was just the perfect one to based the eye makeup on. I applied it all over my mobile lid. Then I applied shade Beat Down - deep purple, to my crease and up to the brows without worrying too much about blending it out. I used C-Note - green-ish teal, on my lower lash line, lined my waterline with grey eye pencil, created quite dramatic winged liner with the Deadbeat eyeshadow, applied mascara and added false lashes.
Brows were kept very natural and bushy in 80s so I filled mines with Bourjois Brow Pencil and made them a bit thicker then normal.
For my face I used the L'Oreal Infallible 24H-Matte foundation in Natural Rose as it gives good coverage but also it's a bit lighter for me right now, so it's perfect to follow the 80s trends. To hide my under eye dark circles I applied Maybelline Fit Me concealer in #10 and set everything with Makeup Revolution Radiant Powder in Breathe which I applied more heavily on top of my cheeks to highlight them more.
To contour my cheeks I used Milani Baked Blush in Bella Rosa which is just the perfect intense shade for the 80s look.
On my lips I applied Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate lipstick in shade #33 and topped it off with MAC Lipglass in shade Golden Blanket for extra shine and shimmer.
I tried to style my hair with 80s trends in mind :) I think 80s hair styles were even more epic then the makeup, who agrees with me? LOL!
And this is the finished look :)
