Get your skin party ready

With the festive season upon us and many parties, dinners to attend I'm sure all of us want to look our best. We spend hours choosing the perfect outfit, styling our hair, painting our nails and doing makeup. We want our skin to look youthful, glowing and like after a pampering visit to a SPA. But I'm sure that with all the expenses of Christmas shopping not many of us can afford expensive facials at this time of year. So why not do it at home, with the products we already have, in the comfort of our bathroom/bedroom. Nothing will beat a consistent good skincare routine but everyone will benefit from some extra pampering session. I do this normally once a week but if I have some party or special event in plans I'm bond to do this three steps routine the day before to be sure that my skin looks its best, smoother, brighter and glowing.

1. Exfoliate.
Merumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel

To make my skin look smoother and brighter regular exfoliation is a key. I prefer to use chemical exfoliators as they're much more effective at removing dead skin cells, smoothing and brightening the skin and are not abrasive. Even though I use a tonner with Glycolic Acid on everyday basis which gently exfoliates the skin, I still reach for a stronger product once or twice a week. This way my skin's appearance is much better, pores are less visible and the complexion is brighter.

My current favourites are:
Origins Modern Friction Instant Brightening Pads, £32 for 40 pads - formulated with 30% Glycolic Acid, Fruit Acids and Rice Bran Extract are really great at quickly and effectively removing dead cells and revealing fresh new skin.
Merumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel, £19.50 for 50ml - contains Glycolic Acid, Pomegranate Enzymes, Lentil Extract to retexturise  the skin leaving it softer and smoother.
Exuviance Triple Microdermabrasion Face Polish, £54.50 for 75g - salon quality powerful treatment with Glycolic Acid, Papaya Enzyme and professional grade crystals to lift away dead cells and dissolve impurities to noticeably rejuvenate the complexion. It's very effective and the difference in the skin is immediately visible.

All three exfoliators make my skin tingle slightly at first which is, in my opinion, a good sign of product really working and they make a real difference in how my skin looks after the treatment.

2. Deeply Cleanse.
Origins Clear Improvement

After exfoliating my skin I like to use deeply cleansing clay mask so impurities and all the gunk inside my pores are drawn out leaving my skin very clean, smooth and pores less visible.

Currently I'm using two masks in rotation and they're both equally good:
Origins Clear Improvement, £23 for 100ml (review) - contains Activate Charcoal, white China Clay, Lecithin which dissolve, absorb and draw out pore impurities and excess oil.
Quick Fix Facials Purifying Charcoal Mask, £4.99 for 100ml - combines Active Charcoal to help clear pores and free skin of toxins and impurities, Dragon Fruit Extract to moisturise skin and Cinnamon Extract which has antiseptic and astringent properties to help clarify skin and soothe any blemishes. Both masks are great at cleansing my skin and the Quick Fix is actually my favourite of the two as it's less drying then the Origins one.

3. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Nuxe 24HR Soothing and Rehydrating Fresh Mask

After all the exfoliation and deep cleanse I like to hydrate and replenish my skin so it's soft, plump and glowing.

I use different products to do so but my current favourites are:
Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask, £23 for 100ml (review) - this mask is a favourite for many of us and no wonder why because it's really good at deeply hydrating the skin, perfect especially for this time of year when our skin tends to get quickly dehydrated with the central heating and cold weather. It leaves my skin super soft and supple.
Nuxe 24HR Soothing and Rehydrating Fresh Mask, £18.50 for 50ml - another greatly hydrating mask but also very cooling and soothing so it's perfect if the skin is slightly irritated by other products or the environment. It's also suitable to use under the eyes which is great because we all want that area to look plump and smooth, especially for a party.
Marula Facial Oil, £37.50 for 30ml - amazingly hydrating oil (review) which I either use after I removed my hydrating mask or instead of it, depending on how dehydrated my skin feels at the time. I also like to use a drop of it mixed with my full coverage matte foundations to make them look more natural and luminous.

So these are the three steps of my at home facials/pampering sessions which ensure that the next day my skin looks the best it can, ready for the glamorous party or special occasion.

Do you do any extra skincare routine before special events? Which products do you usually use for that?

PS. please excuse the different aligning of text but the Blogger is playing its games and doesn't to want cooperate! I will try to fix it though so bare with me.
