Discovering Glo & Ray makeup

One of the things that I love about blogging is discovering new beauty brands, either through reading other blogs or getting opportunities to try new products. When I was offered to try some Glo & Ray products I quickly agreed as I have seen the brand featured on some blogs I read and I was curious about it.
Glo & Ray is a British company which made its debut in September 2012. Its inspiration is the natural wonder of light which led to a collection of makeup designed to illuminate each woman's natural beauty.

Glo & Ray makeup

I was sent to try foundation, eyeshadow quad and lipstick. All of these products have simple but elegant, black matte packaging with white lettering which make them look quite high end. Everything comes in a protective cardboard boxes as well. The pricing is between drugstore and high end and I think it's quite reasonable for quality of these products. The brand doesn't test their products on animals and choose only safe material suppliers. As far as I know you can only purchase Glo & Ray products online from their website.

Glo & Ray CC foundation
I was very happy to be able to try the CC Foundation which promises velvet finish and longevity.
'Featuring Micro-Shine Particles to disguise pores and naturally brighten skin tone, alongside an innovative ‘Water in Smoothie Gel Emulsion System’ ensuring the smallest amount will instantly transform your skin, covering any imperfections or blemishes to leave you with a radiant complexion.'
Unfortunately the shade is too light for me right now but I did tested it anyway. I really like how lightweight it feels on my skin giving light to medium coverage and evening out the tone of my skin perfectly. It blends well with a brush but I personally prefer to use it with my fingers as the warmth helps the foundation melts into the skin and I also get the best coverage that way. The finish is very natural-looking and slightly luminous, it does blur any pores or imperfection and it doesn't accentuate dry skin.
In terms of longevity it's not the most longwearing foundation I've tried though, I usually get around 6 hours before I see some wear off on my nose and chin where normally most foundation I've tried like to start disappearing around that time. I also need to blot my T-Zone around the 4th hour mark but my skin is combination/oily so I'm sure on normal, dry skin types the foundation would hold much better. Overall I really like this product and will certainly reach for it when my slight tan fades.
Glo & Ray Mariposa Quartet Eyeshadow Golden Dunes
Eyeshadows are my thing so I was very excited to test this lovely quad. They're not the best eyeshadows I've tried but the quality is good, they feel a bit hard when swatching them but the pigmentation is nice and they transfer to the lids effortlessly producing almost zero fallout which is great. The colour selection in this quad is a bit odd, in my opinion, mixing two very cool shades with two very warm but you can definitely make them work. I wish there was a matte crease shade as all 4 eyeshadows have shimmery finish. But the shimmer is very subtle and grown up and would be perfect even for those who don't like very sparkly eyeshadows. There are few more quads with different shades selection to choose from, the Liquid Metal looks particularly nice for Autumn.
Glo & Ray La Amo Lipstick Seduce
Last but not least I had the pleasure to try the La Amo Lipstick in this gorgeous true red shade. The formula is very creamy and pigmented with lustrous finish, it feels comfortable, almost moisturising on the lips. Because of the bold shade it is a bit tricky to apply it right from the bullet, so using a lip brush is the best advice, as well as lining the lips first with matching lip liner to prevent bleeding and smudging. I've noticed that the lipstick stains lips so even when it wears off after eating you're not left with the un-flattering outline. It lasts well for 3-4 hours if not devouring some food :) I'm very tempted to try the La Amo Matte lipsticks from the brand.
Here's a simple makeup look I created with all the Glo & Ray products I've been testing. I applied a thin layer of the CC Foundation, finished off my face with some concealer under my eyes and powder to set everything in place. For my eyes I used the two golden shades from the Eyeshadow Quartet on my upper lid with the pearly white on my brow bone and the taupe grey on my lower lid. For my lips I used the La Amo lipstick.
