Makeup through the decades #1 1920s

I love makeup, I love how it can change the way I look, the way it makes me feel and the process of applying it. But I also love the history behind it, how it evolved through the decades, how the trends has been changing. To add a bit more interest to my weekly makeup looks I decided to start a new series on my blog: Makeup through the ages.
Once a month I will be going back in time, talking about trends in makeup back then and trying to re-create the makeup from that time. I'm kicking off the series today with the 1920s when the makeup became very popular amongst all women, not just actresses and prostitutes.

If you're a regular reader of my blog then you know that a few weeks ago I was sent some products from Ole Henriksen to take part in the #RealUsersRealResults campaign (read here) and today I want to update you on how I got on with everything after using them for a month. I will focus on three products that are put together by Ole Henriksen and called 3 Little Wonders which effectively work together to improve the skin's appearance and texture.

Sleek Enchanted Forest palette - review and swatches

I know, I know, another week and another eyeshadow palette review but I couldn't help myself when I saw that Sleek has released new addition to their I-Divine range, the Enchanted Forest palette (£7.99). The selection of shades is beautiful, perfect for the transition from Summer to Autumn and I couldn't ignore the cute name of the palette, could I? :)

Makeup look #28 Dark smokey eyes feat. Zoeva Smokey palette

Following my review of the Zoeva Smokey palette and considering that half of the nation is loving the 'smokey eye' look now, I decided to share with you an evening/night out appropriate makeup which I have been enjoying wearing when I want to feel sultry and a bit of daring. Because I used mostly matte shades with only a pop of shimmer for this look, I found it quite wearable and while I wouldn't necessarily rock it during a normal day running errands I think it's great for any special occasion. Like with any dark smokey eyes look, the focus is on the eyes and the rest of my face I kept fairly nude, accentuating a bit stronger my brows and contouring my cheeks a bit more so they're not 'lost' with the whole look.

De-clutter with me: foundations

A few weeks ago I de-cluttered with you my makeup primers and today it's time to do the same with my foundations as it seems like I have accumulated way too many. Bare in mind that I haven't bought them all at once, some of them I've had for nearly 2 years! Being the beauty junkie I am and a beauty blogger means, that I am always eager to try something new and gone are days when I actually used up a foundation before purchasing a new one. Nowadays I keep buying new products, first, to find the best formulations for my skin and second, to try and compare different products for the blog purposes, #thebestexcuseever :) I am rather careful when it comes to high end purchases but can't help myself with drugstore options so you will see lots of affordable foundations in my stash. This post will be quite long as I have many products to go through, so let's jump to it already!

Zoeva Smokey palette - review and swatches

If you're a beauty enthusiast I'm sure you're well aware of the latest addition to the Naked palettes family by Urban Decay, the Naked Smokey palette. When I saw the first sneak peaks of it on Instagram a few weeks back, I got very excited and thought immediately that I will have to have it, obviously, I'm an eyeshadow palettes addict :) But then I got a closer look at more pictures and some pre-release reviews and my excitement died as the palette didn't seem as attractive as I first thought it would be and considering the high price of it I can't justify spending that much money just to go with the hype, especially that I have already lots of palettes to create smokey eye looks with.
I've been thinking that maybe there are more people like me who can't/don't want to spend too much on one palette but still want something suitable for those smokey, sultry eye makeup and decided to talk to you about a cheaper alternative, the Zoeva Smokey palette (€17.50). It's not a dupe of Urban Decay Naked Smokey palette, in fact it was released last year, so definitely wasn't inspired by it but it contains some beautiful 'smokey' shades.

Even though Summer in UK has been pretty miserable I've been really enjoying creating Summer-y looks that make me think of holidays, sea/ocean water, beach, evening cocktails... ok, I stop here before I'll drift away to the dreamland :) I am trying to use my Summer palettes quite often before I put them away for the colder months. Today I am sharing with you makeup look I created using Sleek Del Mar Vol.2 palette (review). I have been drawn to the turquoise shade Bora Bora since the moment I got the palette and finally I made a use of it. Let me take you now through all the products I used for my makeup.

Makeup Revolution Ultra Contour palette - review

Contouring has been a massive makeup trend in the last few years and even though everyone is talking about strobing now (highlighting high points on the face without using harsh contour shades) I don't think the art of contouring is going anywhere. We have seen so many contour kits coming onto the market, starting from the cult product by Anastasia Beverly Hills to more budget friendly options on the highstreet. I've never been big on harsh contouring, also I don't think my face shape needs that, so I only use a bit of bronzer on every day basis and subtly contour my cheekbones when doing an evening/special occasion makeup. For this reason I have never felt the need to splurge on expensive contour kits and I have only used drugstore options, with the BarryM Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit being my favourite but now I have found a new love.
