Hello!
With days getting longer, warmer, sunnier and Spring just around the corner it was only natural for me to ditch the dark coloured nail polishes and bring back the lighter, brighter and more pastel ones. Today I want to share with you a few new additions to my nail polish collection which certainly doesn't need expanding but what can I say, I just can't resist all the pretty new shades :)
Let's start with a brand that I only recently started exploring and decided to pick up some nail polishes to check what the formula is like.
Essence Color&Go nail polish:
111 English Rose - deep rose colour, I love this shade and it's the one I would happily use all year round.
146 That's What I Mint! - pastel mint-y blue, one for Spring for sure.
109 Off To Miami! - oh yes, please :) This is a bright coral shade, it will look beautiful with a bit of tan.
I've tried only two of these Essence nail polishes so far but I really like the formula, it applies evenly, the pigmentation is great and two coats are more than enough for opaque finish, the brush is wide so it makes the application easier. They lasted on my nails around three days without chipping which is as good as many of my more expensive nail polishes. They cost £1.60 each and you can find them in Wilko shops across the UK.
Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Color 7 Days:
21 Pink in the Park - pastel pink, just gorgeous for Spring in my opinion.
635 Surreal - I'm obsessed with this shade at the moment, it's a gorgeous blue with purple undertones.
This range of nail polishes is my favourite from the drugstore, the formula is amazing, they apply beautifully, the brush is wide and they last around 4 days on my nails chip free, which is really good in my case, I highly recommend them. You can find them in any drugstore or supermarket with Maybelline stand, they're £4.49 each.
BarryM Speedy Quick Dry nail paint:
502 Lap of Honour - pastel lilac.
450 In a Heart Beat - coral-y pastel pink.
While I love the shades of these new nail polishes from BarryM I'm not the biggest fan of the formula. They claim to be quick drying and yes, they are but this means uneven, patchy application. To fix this I try to apply thicker coats so I can distribute the polish all over my nail but then they don't dry as quickly so all in all if you want a super quick drying and opaque in one coat nail varnish this is not the one. What I like about them is the new, wider brush which normally makes the application quicker and easier but with this formula it doesn't help that much. Having said that I'm still going to wear them because the colours are beautiful and they last pretty well on my nails as well. You can buy them in any Boots or Superdrug for £.99 each.
What about you? Are you changing from darker nail polishes to lighter during Spring time? Any of the shades I featured you fancy?

ReplyDeleteMe too, it's a fantastic range of nail polishes! x
ReplyDeleteThe pinky coral is my favourite :) I've found them tricky to apply but if you're doing it quick enough they will look fine but my problem is I don't do it very fast as I like to be as precise as possible when applying nail polish. But I will definitely make them work for me :) x
ReplyDeleteThose new Barry M Polishes are beyond pretty! Love pastel polishes :D I've just written up a post like this haha xx

I love the mint shade! I purchased what I thought was pastel pink polish yesterday, and I painted my nails last night, and it is a bright barbie pink! I'll be returning it for colors more like these :)

Love the formula of the Maybelline polishes. So long lasting. I hope they bring out more shades now for S/S. I love all the colours you picked up, but my fave is the purply / lavender one from Barry M. I need to start shopping for brighter colours now. :) xx

ReplyDeleteI still need to try the Essence nail polishes I bought (my nails have been horrendous with the boxing/moving, so I am waiting for them to be in better shape to have a fresh mani) but I do love Maybelline Super Stay polishes. I need to pick up a few new shades for the Spring and Winter and these two look super pretty. Especially the pink one :) x
