Hello!
I'm pretty sure that most of you have heard of the book 'Fifty shades of Grey' and the recent movie release, if not, I really don't know where you've been hiding :) I can not say I'm a big fan, I started reading the book but never finished but I'm still planning to see the movie soon, just a girly night out with my closest friends, few drinks and Christian Grey :) Thinking about the movie I thought that I'm going to create a makeup look inspired by it, grey and sexy :)
As I have been playing with my new Makeup Revolution palettes I decided to use one of them for the look as it contains a few different shades of grey.
Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 palette is one of the latest releases from the brand and undoubtful dupe for the Lorac Pro 2 palette. The palette has a nice new matte packaging and comes with a useful Pro 1989 double-ended eye shadow brush. Just like the Lorac palette it has 8 matte and 8 shimmer shades. If you've been reading my blog for some time you know that I like Makeup Revolution eye shadows, I think they're really good quality, especially considering how affordable they are. This palette is not exception. The shimmers are great, some better than others but what really impressed me were the matte shades. They're all silky soft and the colour payoff is really up there with much more expensive palettes.
Here are the shades I used from the Iconic Pro 2 palette for my eye makeup look.
*As you can see I used also a purple shade - One Way- to add a bit of colour and warmth to the eyes, I applied it in and above my crease and smoked out with it my lower lash line.
*I blended Grey Day in to my crease and applied it on my outer half of the lid.
*I darkened the outer corner of the eye with Sudden.
*I applied Echo to the inner half of my lid blending it with Grey Day and also in my inner corner. Echo is a shade that is a bit more difficult to work with, to get a nice opaque finish on the lid you need a sticky primer or apply the shade with dampened brush, I used for this shade the Makeup Revolution Aqua Seal Liquid Eye primer which helps the eye shadow to adhere to the skin and intensify the colour.
After applying the eye shadows I lined my upper and lower lashes with Rimmel Scandaleyes Black pencil, lined my waterline with Rimmel Scandaleyes Nude pencil, coated my lashes with Benefit Roller Lash mascara and added Red Cherry #523 false lashes.
I filled in my brows with Rimmel Brow Pencil in Hazel and set them with L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper in Medium Brown.
For my base I used:
Primer - Benefit the Porefessional.
Foundation - Dior Star in 020.
Concealers - Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin in 02Light to hide the under eye dark circles and L'Oreal Lumi Magique in Light for highlighting.
Powder - L'Oreal BB powder in Light.
Highlighter - Makeup Revolution Radiant Light powder in Breathe.
Blush - Max Factor Crème Puff Blush in Seductive Pink (review).
Setting Spray - Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray (*).
For my lips I wanted something with purple tones so I used my beloved Rimmel by Kate #30 but then I decided to tone it down so I blotted my lips and applied on top Makeup Revolution Ultra Velour Lip Cream in 'Their Eyes Can't Find Us'.
Here's the finished look :)
What do you think of this makeup look? Are shades of grey what you like to use on your eyes? Are you going to watch the 'Fifty shades of Grey' movie? Let me know in the comments below what you think.

I don't think I pull off grey that well, warmer colours suit me better. I love the pop of purple, this is a great look! Haven't tried the makeup revolution palette because I have the Lorac pro 2 and love it to death haha!
ReplyDeleteWow that look is stunning, so if I move like next door or something can you do my make up everyday for me. I am rubbish at doing this kind of thing until I have seen your posts....Love the palette and that makes me want it more. *runs off to order more make up I don't need*

Love the purple crease shade in this look and the two mixed shades of lip products. I find shades of grey quite daunting to us actually as I don't really know how to create a look with them. I read the books so I think I'd like to see the film even if it has mixed reviews x

I love the drastic difference between the dark crease and silver lid - looks stunning! I have read the books but not watched the film yet - I feel like it might be one of those that is overhyped xx

The makeup revolution palette is gorgeous and the pigmentation looks really good too. This is another great eye makeup, Dagmara!
ReplyDeleteI will NOT be watching Fifty Shades of Grey, read a few pages of the book and hated it. LOL!

ReplyDeleteThank you, my lovely friend! That would be awesome :) I actually started doing makeup on my friends so would love to have another model :) The palette is great but I still want to have the original ones :) x
ReplyDeleteThat's why I'm planning to see the movie because I like to have my opinion on so much hyped movies :) Greys are definitely hard to work with hence the purple crease to make it more flattering :) x
ReplyDeleteI always find with movies based on a novel I read that they lack something but as I didn't read the books I'm just going to judge the movie :) Thanks Brenda! xx
ReplyDeleteLove the inspired look. Echo is such a gorgeous silver shade . *_*

Thank you Gemma! The 'glowy' look is because of the Radiant Powder in Breath and setting spray which always make my skin looking kind of luminous :) xx
