Friday makeup look #8 JLo Oscars 2015 inspired makeup look

Jaclyn Hill favourites palette

Last week has been filled with celebrities makeup looks, hair styles and outfits with the Oscars 2015 and the Brit Awards 2015 gracing our TV screens. I didn't watch live the Oscars but right the next day I went through all the news to find out the winners but also who looked like for the ceremony. I love seeing celebrities being made up by the greatest makeup artists and all the trends on the Red Carpet. Of course being makeup obsessed I had to focus on that aspect of the big performance :) There were many beautiful makeup looks but one that stood out to me was the one that JLo was wearing. It was different from other looks on the Red Carpet, she looked beautiful, feminine and fresh. So I decided to get the inspiration from her and create my version of the Jlo Oscars 2015 makeup look.

Saying 'Bye' to dark circles' with Pixi Correction Concentrate Concealer

Pixi Correction Concentrate
Pixi by Petra is a brand that I've only tried a handful of products from but I have been quite intrigued by it for some time now and in love with their pastel green, girly packaging :)
There are lots of things I want to try from Pixi, hello lovely eyeshadows!, but my main focus, when placing my last order, was on products that I actually needed.
Dark under eye circles are a nightmare for many of us an while I don't suffer too badly with them I still need to cover the dark area to look like I had a 10-hour beauty sleep every night. And we all know that never happens, at least not in my case. I had been using to cover my dark circles some decent drugstore concealers (Rimmel Wake Me Up and Maybelline Better Skin) but lately I wasn't completely satisfied with them. Maybe because I've been going to sleep very late (I blame blogging for that) or because my younger boy doesn't sleep that well at night or probably both, so I needed some extra help in the makeup department.
The Pixi Correction Concentrate Concealer, RRP £12, had been on my radar for quite some time so I decided to give it a go.

First blogging anniversary giveaway - Finished

As promised yesterday I'm back to announce my First Blogging Anniversary Giveaway! Yey!

As a big 'thank you' to all my lovely followers who have supported me and my blog during my first year of blogging journey, I've decided to give something back, something that will feel like a lovely birthday present.
I had been thinking of the perfect 'present' and being a total eyeshadow palette junkie I knew it has to be a palette but which one?, there are so many to choose from.
I wanted one that is easily accessible in UK so I wouldn't have a problem with buying it, one that I've tried so I know what the quality is like, one that has different colour variation so the winner can choose the best for themselves and one that feels and looks luxurious.

So I decided to get for the winner of my giveaway the Chanel Les 4 Ombres Multi-effect Quadra Eyeshadow in their choice of shade :)

What have I learnt during the first year of blogging?

The last week of February marks the first anniversary of creating Mummy's Beauty Corner so happy blogiversary to me! :)
At this time last year with shaky hands and feeling all nervous I pressed the 'publish' button for the first time and never looked back. Since I got into reading lots of beauty blogs in 2013 I had wanted to start mine own, so after lots of thinking I finally gave in and created Mummy's Beauty Corner.
Being 'stay at home' mum my life has become very much focused on my children and house so deciding to do something for myself and dedicating the time to do so was and still is a big deal and something I thoroughly enjoy. Blogging has become my greatest hobby and a place where I can forget for a minute about being a mum and a wife and be just the girl with an unhealthy obsession for beauty products :)
So what the blogging has taught me during the first year of my journey?

Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray - review

Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray

Makeup setting spray is a product which I started using only last year but since I've discovered its benefits I've been reaching for it nearly every day. I've used before e.l.f. setting spray, Urban Decay All Nighter and also recently the Makeup Revolution Amazing Makeup Fixing Spray which I really enjoy, so when I was given the opportunity to try the new version of it, the Oil Control Fixing Spray, I didn't hesitate. My skin is combination/oily and even though recently has been on a drier side I still get shiny during the day. Depending on a foundation I use and if I use a primer underneath I normally need to blot/powder my face after 3-5 hours after applying my makeup so oil controlling setting spray seemed like a great idea.
The Makeup Revolution Oil Control Fixing Spray* (RRP £5) claims to "help deflect surface shine for a natural matte finish. High Tech ingredients keep foundation and eye makeup in place for that 'just-applied' natural look lasting up to 12 hours".

Friday makeup look #7 Shades of grey... using Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 palette

I'm pretty sure that most of you have heard of the book 'Fifty shades of Grey' and the recent movie release, if not, I really don't know where you've been hiding :) I can not say I'm a big fan, I started reading the book but never finished but I'm still planning to see the movie soon, just a girly night out with my closest friends, few drinks and Christian Grey :) Thinking about the movie I thought that I'm going to create a makeup look inspired by it, grey and sexy :)
As I have been playing with my new Makeup Revolution palettes I decided to use one of them for the look as it contains a few different shades of grey.

Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes - review and swatches

Max Factor Creme Puff Blush Seductive Pink
If you are a beauty obsessed person like me you must have seen the recent launch of the new Max Factor Crème Puff Blushes. The reviews, including comparison the much more expensive Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes, started popping out on my Bloglovin feed so the curiosity got the best of me and when I was in Boots last time I decided to check them out. There were only 4 out of the 6 shades from this range at that time and I picked 2 of them: Seductive Pink and Gorgeous Berries.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #238 Tisse Paris - review and swtaches

A few weeks ago me and my husband were celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary and one of the presents I got from him was Chanel Multi-effect Qudra Eyeshadow #238 Tisse Paris from the new collection Reverie Parisienne for Spring 2015. It was a big surprise as he never before bought any makeup for me without me suggesting what I want. In fact we didn't talk about any particular presents for that occasion and while I was expecting a little gift I would have never thought it could be makeup. He chose eyeshadow quad because he knows I'm absolutely obsessed with palettes and from Chanel because I don't have any makeup from them and every girl wants to have a bit of luxury in their makeup bags :)
The packaging is a simple black plastic case with the Chanel logo, nothing fancy really but elegant and classic. It comes with a cute velour sleeve to protect the palette from scratches etc. which only adds a luxurious feel to the product.
Inside the palette there are four baked eye shadows, two sponge applicators and a mirror.

Friday makeup look #6 In love with Pink

If you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed that I got the much desirable Jaclyn Hill Favourites palette by Morphe Brushes, it cost me long hours spent trying to order it on the day of the pre-order and then extra ££ for the custom charges but it's in my hands and I'm very happy with it. The quality of the eye shadows is incredible, they're insanely pigmented, most of them are buttery smooth and I mean BUTTERY, and even those few which are a bit chalky they're still perform amazing on the eyes. The whole palette consists of 28 warm toned shades ranging from matte to shimmery, from neutrals to fun colours. These are the colours that Jaclyn Hill loves the most from the Morphe Brushes' single eye shadows collection. I'm pretty sure that you all know who Jaclyn is and if not you must certainly check her Youtube channel out :) I absolutely adore her, she's a talented makeup artist, gorgeous young woman with such a fun  and genuine personality that makes me want to become her BFF :) So when I found out about the palette I knew I have to have it, no matter what. And here I am, playing with Jaclyn Hill Favourites palette.

Valentine's Day outfit - 3 options

Today I'm coming back with something different from my usual makeup-focused posts, a fashion wish list :) And exactly, I've chosen three outfits for a Valentine's Day or any day in fact, when you are going out with your other half and want to feel super glamorous.
As a little disclaimer I have to add that I'm not a very fashionable person, I like what I like and not often I follow any trends. I stick to classic, temporary pieces. I like the parts of my outfit to match one another, together with accessories and maybe I'm not very adventurous in choosing my clothes, but that's the way I am. I don't even like shopping for clothes that much, especially since having children, when going to the shops and trying to choose something suitable comes close to a nightmare :) But when I'm in a need for a new outfit I like to do some online search for different pieces, and while doing so last week I had so much fun planning some outfits that I decided to share with you some pretty clothes and accessories I wish I could add to my shopping basket.

Makeup Revolution 'Beyond Flawless' eyeshadow palette - review and swatches

I'm back with another eyeshadow palette to share with you my opinion on it and swatches. Is there any therapy groups for eyeshadow palettes addicts because I'm definitely one of them, haha! I can't help but to collect as many as I possibly can afford. So Makeup Revolution is definitely the dangerous brand for me as their eye shadows are good quality, very affordable and they bring a new palette every couple of weeks!
Beyond Flawless palette is one of their latest addition, it contains 32 eye shadows and costs £8, that's a bargain!
It comes in a golden box that makes it look like a more expensive product than it actually is. The actual packaging is a classic black plastic, sleek case with secure closure and a big mirror inside.

Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil - review

Ole henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil

I love trying new skincare products but don't like throwing myself at every single sample I receive in a beauty box or with purchase because it's not good to disrupt my skincare routine and mess up with my skin with a 2, 3 uses with a sachet of the latest cream. But after receiving a deluxe sample of the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Youth Activating Oil I couldn't wait for my current night time serum to finish to start using this little gem. I had never tried Ole Henriksen skincare before but heard only good things about this range produced by Danish skin cosmetician who worked in his own SPA in Hollywood looking after skin of many celebrities. His products are infused with highly active ingredients and formulations are safe for all skin types.

Friday makeup look #5 Taupe eyes, berry lips.

This week I wanted to share with you a makeup look that is kind of romantic but not baby doll-like, with soft taupe eyes and bright lips. Perfect for a romantic date or any occasion you want to look feminine and a bit more daring :)
For my eyes I used one of the Makeup Revolution palettes called 'I am Sexy...' (review) with the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eye shadow in Permanent Taupe as a base for the taupe shade from the palette.

My makeup table/storage

Ikea Malm Dressing table
Makeup storage/collection are one of those posts/videos I always read/watch whenever I find a new blogger/vlogger I like because I'm nosy like that :) As a beauty enthusiast I love seeing how other people set up their makeup table, how organise their cosmetics. So today I decided to share with you my makeup table/storage, to let you have a peek into the part of my bedroom which has been my favourite place in the house since I bought the table a few months ago. My set up is not extra ordinary or pinterst-like but it has been the perfect place to do my makeup with all the things I need on hand. I absolutely love the table and always look forward to those moments when I can sit down at it and enjoy making myself up.
As you can see the table is the ever so popular Ikea Malm Dressing Table. I had wanted one since I saw it in some youtube videos couple of years back when I started watching youtube.
I love how sleek and simple it is but also great at storing lots of makeup in its long drawer.
The chair is a chrome and white plastic also from Ikea, surprisingly very comfortable.

Splurge or save? #3 Too Faced 'Chocolate Bar' palette vs I ♡ Makeup 'I Heart Chocolate' palette

First of all, I wanted to quickly tell you about my new blog design, if you're my regular reader you must have noticed already :) Mummy's Beauty Corner had a makeover! I like a small change every now and then, like moving the furniture around the house, new hair etc. so it was just natural that I wanted a new look for my blog as well. I really like the new design, it's cleaner and easier to read. I hope you will also find it nice and it will enhance your reading experience :)

Now let's kick off the post!
Today I want to share with you my opinion and comparison of two very similar palettes, one from the higher end and one from a budget brand. Makeup Revolution and its sister brand I ♡ Makeup have become well known for their good quality, affordable products and lots of "dupes" they create. Having the original Too Faced 'Chocolate Bar' palette, (review), RRP £39, I decided to compare it to the cheaper version: the I ♡ Makeup 'I Heart Chocolate' palette, RRP £7.99.
