Time for a facial pamper session

I don't know about you but I do love a good facial at home/pamper session and have been doing them regularly for years. In fact the last time I had professional facials at beauty salon was before I got married over 8 years ago! That's what being a wife and mummy does to you, girls, just warning you... haha! I'm joking!
But truth is that professional facials can be very expensive, especially if you want them to be done on regular basis, so spending one evening at home with your favourite face masks/treatments will be as beneficial to you but much cheaper. I usually pick Friday night to do all my pampering so I feel fabulous for the weekend and week ahead :)

products for facial pamper session

I have done this kind of posts, on triple masking, in the past but because I keep trying out new products I thought I will share with you my current facial pamper routine and the products I'm enjoying using.

Deep exfoliation
I always start my facial at home with deep exfoliation and for the past few years I've been using chemical/acid peels to do that. I used to use Acid Peels from Bravura which were fantastic but since I've finished them I decided to try something new.

The Ordinary Peeling Solution AHA 30% + BHA 2%

The formula contains 30% Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% Beta Hydroxyl Acid (Salicylic Acid), and let me tell, it's powerful, even for my well, accustomed to acids, skin, yet I haven't experienced any irritation while using it. I do feel a tingling when the peel is on my skin though. Because of how 'strong' the peel is I use it only once a week, with reaching for mildly exfoliating acid pads on daily basis, and keep it on for the recommended 10 minutes only. I don't want this to have the opposite effect on my skin and instead of beautiful skin giving me irritation.

The Peeling Solution contains Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use and also  a crosspolymer form of Hyaluronic Acid for comfort, Vitamin B5 to assist healing and Black Carrot extract as an antioxidant.

The results of using this peel are almost immediate, right after washing it off my skin is smoother and glowing. After using it for 5, 6 times I can see my complexion is brighter and skin tone more even and the super stubborn under skin bumps I had on my forehead are almost completely gone.
This is my new favourite acid peel and I highly recommend it as long as you're used to using acid peels, your skin is not overly sensitive or/and inflamed and peeling.

Skin detox
After the deep exfoliation I usually spray my skin with hydrating/soothing facial mist, like the Mario Badescu or La Roche-Posay ones, wait a few minutes and then apply a face mask that will withdraw any impurities and excess oil from my pores and do a good deep cleanse to my skin.
I just want to be sure a face mask for this step is not too harsh or drying as after the acid peel my skin is a bit more sensitive so I don't want it to get irritated. I have found couple of very gentle, hydrating yet detoxifying and deeply cleansing clay masks that I highly recommend.

Sukin Detoxifying mask, Elemental Herbology Facial Detox

Sukin Detoxifying mask, £11.95 for 100ml
This natural clay based face mask combines a blend of super greens, including kale, spirulina, parsley and chlorella to reveal healthy, glowing skin. The formula is infused with nourishing avocado and baobab, and goji berry extract which helps to balance the complexion.
The face mask leaves my skin very soft and healthy looking without the tight feeling many clay masks can give you.

Another fantastic clay mask that is not drying at all, in fact you might feel like you have a hydrating mask on, yet it deeply cleanses the skin, helps to reduce any breakouts and balances oil secretion.
Formulated with Amazonian Clay, rich in minerals which helps to eliminate toxins, Manuka Honey, powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient ideal to promote healthy and glowing skin and Calendula which  has a soothing and anti-redness effect for a brighter complexion.

Hydration
After the previous two steps it's time to hydrate the skin so we can wake up with not only smooth and glowing but also plump complexion. I mix and match lots of different hydrating face masks but these ones have been in my rotation recently.

Sheet face masks, Glamglow Thirsty Mud face mask

Glamglow Thirstymud*, £14 for 15g
This is a fabulous face mask to quickly hydrate your thirsty skin. It can be left overnight which is what I like to do to get the most of it. It smells lovely and you can literally feel how soothing and hydrating it is.
Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, blended with Raw Honey and Ginger Root to soften and condition the skin, whilst reviving radiance and restoring suppleness for a smooth, healthy-looking complexion.

I have talked about this mask in my 'overnight face masks' post and I still love to reach for it on those pamper nights. I leave it overnight and wake up to radiant, glowing, plumped skin.
The mask is formulated with Papaya, rich in minerals as well as Vitamin C, which regenerates skin cells and boosts skin radiance, Jojoba Oil which enhances skin's natural suppleness and elasticity,  and Sweet Almond Oil known for its soothing, softening and moisturising properties.

Korean Sheet Masks*, from £1.99
I have mentioned many times on my blog that I'm not the biggest fan of sheet masks, probably because they're a bit of a faff to use, in my opinion, with the sheet rarely fitting my face properly and the essence running down my neck, haha! Yet I always seem to have some around and I can't deny that many of them are fantastic at deeply hydrating and nourishing my skin.

I was recently sent a few Korean sheet face masks from a newly opened online store My Skin Be and I've been enjoying them daily to keep my skin in top condition to my kids and husband's amuse :)
They're also perfect to finish off a pampering session as they're cooling, soothing and deeply hydrating. I highly recommend the Pomegranate Juicy Mask Sheet from Holika Holika and Berisom Hyaluronic Acid Animal Mask.

How does your 'facial at home' look like? Do you dedicate an evening to multiple masking or do you just do it as and when you feel like it?

PS. There's a giveaway of the new BECCA x Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette on my Instagram so go and enter for a chance to win it :)
