You know those impulse purchases when you have a few minutes before meeting/appointment and you find yourself in a shop wandering around aisles, killing the time, and then something catches your eye and, boom, you're leaving with some new makeup/bag/clothes? :)
That was me a week ago. I didn't have any intention of buying new lipsticks but then I noticed some new releases from L'Oreal and I was sold. But it's not all bad because 2 of the three I bought have quickly become my favourites. So let me tell you about them :)
The Color Riche Matte range is not new but the brand recently repackaged these lipsticks, the matte black looks so much nicer then the old gold one, in my opinion, and created a big campaign involving many beauty bloggers/vloggers which I think it's nice to see them promoting 'normal' women instead of celebrities. There are 15 shades available in the new Matte Addiction line but I'm not sure if there are any brand new.
I chose shade 640 Erotique which is a beautiful rosy nude, I'm loving it and it's my current 'go to' lipstick. The formula is also very nice, creamy, hydrating but with semi-matte/satin finish and it lasts quite well on the lips up to 4 hours depending on how much you eat and drink in the meantime. The lipstick is very nicely pigmented, opaque in one swipe, it doesn't bleed nor accentuate dry skin or lines. Really great formula and so affordable. Unfortunately it still has the, characteristic to L'Oreal, plastic-y/floral scent but it's not as strong as I remember it from some older lipsticks and it dissipates quickly once applied to the lips.
This liquid lipstick is a new release from the brand, there are only 8 shades available on UK market. They come in a tube with doe foot applicator which is very nicely shaped and hugs the lips perfectly allowing an easy application. The formula of this lipstick reminds me a lot the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, it has the same dry, kind of mousse-y consistency which I'm not a fan of, unfortunately. The shade I chose, 201 Hollywood Beige, peachy nude, is well pigmented and opaque on the lips in couple of swipes but after a little while it gathers in fine lines and accentuates dry skin. The lipstick dries semi-matte but it transfers easily and is not very long lasting. You definitely need to touch it up after eating but it looks fine for up to 3 hours otherwise. It feels very lightweight and comfortable on but after a few hours I notice my lips feeling a little bit dry. It has quite pleasant fruity scent. If you like the Nyx Soft Matte Creams then I think you'd love this L'Oreal offering as well. I'm not a fan of the mousse-y formula so I'm not planning to get more shades.

I had not been attracted to a lip gloss for a long time but while browsing the L'Oreal stand these glosses jumped out to me and I remembered reading on some other blogs that they're really nice so decided to treat myself to one. I picked shade Disco Ball which is very pale beige with golden micro shimmer and it looks really beautiful as a topper of some other matte lipsticks or lip liners. There are lots of shades to choose from, some shimmery, some fully opaque bold colours. The formula is really good, nicely pigmented, smooth and not sticky or gloopy at all, it has faint fruity scent which doesn't linger. The gloss has the weirdest wand applicator, I don't know what's the purpose of it really but it doesn't affect the actual application. The gloss feels hydrating on the lips, unfortunately is not very long lasting, which is to be expected but it leaves behind a trace of the subtle shimmer which is very pretty. I'm excited to keep using it on top of many of my matte lipsticks which look just too flat and dry on their own or pair it with some lip liners.
Are you a fan of L'Oreal lip products? Have you tried any of these lipsticks?
