Makeup tutorial: neutral eye look and raspberry lips, feat. Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette

Last week I asked if you have any makeup suggestions or requests and one of my blogging friends Siobhan ( blogging at Beautylymin) mentioned that she would love to see makeup look using Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, so during my weekend 'play and makeup' session I grabbed that palette and created this neutral, yet a bit glamorous eye look. I used Black Forest Truffle, an eyeshadow that I rarely reach for it as it's quite glittery and difficult to work with but with a sticky base it's really pretty and definitely worth the extra effort. I paired the eyes with deep raspberry lips but they would look also very pretty with nude or even red lips.

Disappointing products

Today I'm being a negative Nancy on my blog and will be talking about products that didn't perform as well as I was hoping they would. Don't get me wrong though, these are not bad products, some of them I quite like, they just didn't meet my expectations or didn't work well on my skin. So if you're in love with any of these don't take my criticism personally. At the end of the day it's only my opinion on some makeup and what doesn't impress me might be perfect for you :)

'If I could keep only 10 makeup items...' challenge

I've seen lately a few of my favourite fellow bloggers doing the challenge of picking up only 10 makeup products from their, usually extensive, collection and I thought it would be fun to join in. Of course, just like some of them, I cheated a bit choosing couple of palettes over single products, but, let's face it, there's no way, us beauty junkies, can stick to just one eyeshadow or one blush. So I've tried to do the challenge but also be more realistic and picked 10 items of makeup which I know I could stick to for a period of time without needing anything extra.

Makeup tutorial: purple smokey eyes and mauve lips

Last weekend, during my 'me time/makeup play' time, I was going through my eyeshadow stash looking for an inspiration and one shade jumped out to me . It was Toxic by Makeup Geek, beautiful black based purple which looks almost like a duo-chrome, it's insanely pigmented and has a subtle shimmer. So, to change things up a bit from my latest obsession with peach, coral and orange shades I decided to go for purple smokey eyes. And with this shade being quite dimensional the eye look is super easy to create, yet quite dramatic. I added Inglot duo-chrome pigment for some sparkle and paired the eyes with mauve lips.
If you want to see how I got this look then keep on reading :)

My thoughts on blogging and 1000 Bloglovin' followers giveaway

We're currently experiencing heat wave in UK and despite my efforts I can't think, my brain is switched off, it's currently 9.30pm and there are still 32C outside. So I thought it was a great opportunity to write a bit of a chatty post today, while I'm having a glass of very cold cider to cool me down, and encourage you all to a bit of conversation about blogging.
During weekend I read this post on Laura's blog talking about being relatable versus aspirational as a blogger and it inspired me to talk on my blog about those and some other aspects of blogging I've been thinking of for a while.
Also my blog has recently reached 1000 followers on Bloglovin' which I'm so happy about and grateful for everyone who takes the time to read my blog and leave comments so I decided to do a little giveaway as a 'thank you'. Stay tuned till the end to enter it :)

My essential face and eye makeup brushes

Long gone are days when I used my fingers or sponge applicators to apply my makeup, now I have a drawer full of brushes to do so. And not only there are brushes for eye or face makeup application but almost every area on my face have a specific brush designated which will also depends on the product that is used with. But even though I have so many makeup brushes that could easily serve at least a few people I seem to reach for the same few on everyday basis. So today I want to share with you my essential everyday brushes which work very well for me and my needs.
I hope this post will help some of you starting your makeup journey and looking for brush recommendations or even those of you who, like me, have already many brushes but need some new ones.
I've never invested in very expensive makeup brushes but I've tried my fair share of different budget friendly options and found ones that are fantastic at what they're expected to do and I will highly recommend them.

Makeup tutorial: blues & oranges, fun Summer look

If you've been a reader of my blog for a while you know that I love experimenting with colourful makeup and reach for bright, bold colours not only for my lips but also eyes very often. The look I want to share with you today had been on my mind for some time, I loved the idea of pairing deep blue with orange and finally last week I let my creative juices flow and came up with this fun, Summer makeup look, perfect for anyone who enjoys wearing bright colours. I loved it and surprisingly felt very comfortable with the orange lipstick on.
If you prefer more toned down makeup you might like to have a look at the  rose gold eye look I posted last week which is definitely much more wearable :)

Triple masking AKA my facial pamper routine

Regular facials in a salon has become a distant memory since having my children due to lack of time and not being able to justify expensive treatments on weekly/monthly basis. But one thing that hasn't changed is my passion for skincare and the need of looking after my skin. Ever since I started having consistent skincare routine in my late teens face masks were important part of it. And still are to this day. Once or twice a week I do a proper pamper session for my skin and that's when the triple masking is happening.
What's that?
Nothing more then using three specific masks, one after the other, for better results. My skin is loving those at home 'facials' and I can see real benefits of doing them as my skin has become clearer, smoother and plumper since I started this kind of pamper routine about a year ago.

Summer nails: my favourite shades, nail polishes and top coats

Looking after my hands is high on my beauty priority list so I moisturise them multiple times a day and always make sure my nails look good. More often then not they will be painted, I like to change my nail colour weekly which will depend on the occasion, my mood and the season. I love nude shades on my nails which are always chic and go with everything but I also adore dark bold colours for Autumn/Winter, pastels for Spring and playful, happy shades for Summer.
Today I want to share with you my favourite Summer shades, nail polishes that work the best on my nails and excellent top coats which not only add shine to my coloured nails but also extend their longevity.

Makeup tutorial: rose golden eyes and bright coral lips

Today I want to share with you makeup look I love to wear whenever I feel like glamming up a bit more but don't want heavy smokey or colourful eyes. This neutral, sparkly, glamorous yet simple, eye look is perfect for Summer, paired with bronzed, glowy skin and any warm toned lipstick you wish to wear. I chose bright coral red because I'm in love with this shade but the eyes would look also beautiful paired with pure red lipstick or nude shade.

June beauty favourites

We're half way through the year already and as soon as the Summer months are gone we'll be talking about Christmas, how crazy is that? I swear the older I get the time goes faster!
Anyway we're here to talk about some beauty products I've been loving in the last few weeks, some are new, some are old favourites which have been shown a bit of love again. I found myself reaching for the same makeup items almost every day which just shows how much I enjoyed them. My skincare routine hasn't changed much but I introduced couple of new products into it and one has seriously stole my heart so it deserves the 'favourites' spot.

Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips lipsticks: Electric Poppy & Miranda May

Not very often I indulge in luxurious makeup but every now and then I feel like treating myself to something from the high shelves. And today I want to share with you swatches and my thoughts on two Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks from her new Hot Lips range I bought recently.
Charlotte Tilbury created 12 new shades inspired by celebrities she closely worked with and teamed up with Women For Women International charity to help to raise awareness and donate £1 from every Hot Lips lipstick sold in the first two months of sales (why only a pound and for such a limited time only??).

Makeup tutorial: peach-y coral eyes and lips, feat. Morphe Brushes 35O palette

Even though Summer is somehow missing UK I feel pretty Summery (could be still the effect of my holidays in Spain last month) and considering we're already in July I decided to create another makeup look that incorporates peach and coral shades which are my favourites for this time of year.
If you're not fan of these colours you might like better my green eye makeup look which I shared last week :)
