I've shared with you already my favourite lipsticks and blushes in mauve shades, lip products in pretty earthy tones and, seeing as Autumn has arrived, it's time for the berry edit. There's no other shade in makeup which makes me think of this time of year as much as berry colour and it's one that I wear only during those colder months of the year. Not because there are rules in makeup I try to follow but, simply, because it makes me think of all the beautiful, rich colours of this season.
I have picked some of my favourite berry lipsticks, blushes and have thrown in a few nail polishes so without further ado let's get to them.
I don't own many berry blushes as they can be quite un-forgiving on my fair complexion but there are two that I absolutely love and they complement berry lipsticks beautifully.
Too Faced Love Flush Long Lasting Blush in Your Love is King, £25, I've spoken many times on my blog about Too Faced blushes and how much I love their formula and this shade is no exception. Although scary-looking in the pan is not super intense so you can create a nicely flushed, berry cheeks without looking like a clown. It stays on the skin for a long time without disappearing around midday or getting patchy.
Max Factor Crème Puff Blush in Gorgeous Berries, £8.99, another great blush formula, this time from a drugstore, this shade is very pigmented so you need to be a bit more careful when applying it to the cheeks but it looks beautiful. It's very smooth, blends easily and gives a very subtle glow to the skin. It's also long lasting.
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in shade 30, £5.49, this lipstick is almost a cult product amongst beauty lovers and many bring it back during Autumn days. Beautiful berry shade, creamy to apply and very comfortable on the lips. It lasts about 3 hours without eating and it doesn't feathers outside the lip line. Great, budget friendly pick!
Too Faced Melted Lipstick in Berry, £19, one of the very first liquid lipsticks I've tried, not as matte and long-lasting like those that I tend to reach for nowadays but very comfortable on the lips with subtle glossy finish. It's super pigmented and a little goes a long way, I usually prefer to use a lip brush to apply it instead of doing it straight with the applicator. It lasts good 3-4 hours, depending on how much I eat and it leaves a pretty stain behind.
Urban Decay Matte Lipstick in After Dark, £15, I have the old version but the shade still exists in the new Vice Comfort Matte range which I think it has the same formula. It's a gorgeous purple berry shade with iridescent violet subtle sparkles. Great pigmentation and staying power, it lasts up to 6 hours with some drinking and light eating. It's not drying on the lips and it doesn't bleed. It feels creamy when applied yet it sets to a semi-matte finish.
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Vivien, £24, one of the best creamy lipstick formula out there, super pigmented, glides with ease across the lips, it doesn't bleed, it feels comfortable and it lasts up to 5 hours depending on the amount of food and drink in the meantime. If you wish to treat yourself to a luxurious lipstick then I'm sure that the Audacious range wouldn't disappoint. Vivien is a gorgeous deep berry shade with satin finish.
Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Lyin' King, $6, it seems like there's always at least one Colourpop lip products in any of my makeup posts but, simply, they're great and so affordable, even for us in UK that we have to add the price of shipping and taxes. Ultra Satin Lips are my favourite liquid lipsticks formula as they're super comfortable on the lips yet they still last a long time. Lyin' King is a beautiful deep raspberry shade, not as vampy as some other berry shades but still quite Autumnal.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Notion, $6, I've heard people saying that the Ultra Matte Lip formula is very drying so I never bothered ordering any but in my last order there was an offer to pick 1-4 shades from their new Fall collection if you spend certain amount of money so I did get two free Ultra Matte Lips and I have to say that I really like them. Notion is a bit of vampy berry shade, it dries completely matte and it lasts for ages even with eating and drinking. And I don't find it overly drying at all, yes, my lips will feel slightly uncomfortable after about 3-4 hours of wearing it but not too much. The lipstick looks smooth on the lips and it's easy to reapply it if needed, you can check this photo on my Instagram if you want to see how it looks on the lips.
Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Color 7 Days in Berry Stain, £4.49, this nail polishes are my favourite at this price point as they apply smoothly, the brush is wide and domed and they last very well on my nails. Berry Stain is that perfect berry purple shade, great for this time of year.
Essie Nail Polish in Damsel in a Dress, £4.75, another beautiful purple, with a subtle silver sheen to it, it's one of older Essie shades but you can still find it on Amazon and quite cheaper.
Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Color 7 Days in Midnight Red, £4.49, this shade is the least berry of them all but I still love it for this time of year, deep and sultry, perfect to complement berry lipsticks.
