I haven't been shopping a lot lately but I still managed to get a few new products to try and I also have been sent some, so I thought I would do a little round up of all the new makeup I've been trialling in recent weeks. There are quite a few things to go through so without further ado let's get to talking about them.
Skin Shop Dry Eye Concealer*, £11.95
Dry Eye Concealer has been developed for people who suffer with eczema, dry, flaky or/and sensitive skin. It contains Cardiospermum and Biolin, two ingredients which are soothing, moisturising and help to repair the skin barrier. So it's more like a skincare product with some makeup benefits. The concealer comes in a clicker pen dispenser with brush at the end for easy application. Unfortunately it's only available in one shade which has pink undertones and it suppose to adapt to any skin tone.
It's nicely brightening but the coverage is very light so if you suffer with very dark under eye circles you would have to use something else either underneath or on top of it.
Although you can easily find much better concealers out there I highly recommend the Dry Eye Concealer for people who suffer with dry, irritated skin around their eyes as you can apply it to your bare skin to soothe it and help to lock the moisture in and then you can follow with higher coverage concealer if needed.
I like to use it on days when I don't need much coverage or my skin is irritated and the concealer feels very hydrating and soothing and it doesn't accentuate any fine lines, although I always set it with powder anyway.
Milani Conceal + Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation + Concealer, shade 04 Medium Beige, £10
I had been hearing about the Milani foundation for a few months and how good it is, so after being a bit disappointed with the new Urban Decay All Nighter foundation I decided to finally give it a go. And I'm so glad I did because it's just all round great foundation.
It provides medium to full coverage but it feels lightweight on the skin and it has very natural, satin finish. It blends beautifully, it almost melts into the skin and becomes invisible. I've tried applying it with brushes and beauty blender and the results are always good. One pump is more then enough for me to get solid medium coverage.
The foundation doesn't cling to any dry patches and doesn't accentuate large pores or fine lines. It lasts really well on my skin, only about 8-hour mark I see it wearing off from my nose and chin, areas which are always difficult for me to keep the foundation looking flawless all day. And that's even without a primer! I get a bit shiny after about 4-5 hours after applying it but a quick blotting it's all I need for the foundation to look perfect again.
All in all, I'm very impressed with this foundation and from reading different reviews it seems like it suits many skin types. It comes in 14 shades which is also quite impressive for a drugstore option, I got shade 04 Medium Beige which matches my body very well at the moment when I'm still lightly tanned. But I can see myself buying a lighter shade so it's perfect for the months ahead.
Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick, shade Flirty, £6
While buying the Milani foundation I decided also to grab one of their lipsticks. I'm a big fan of their regular Color Statement lipsticks so I wanted to try the Matte range. I picked shade Flirty which is a beautiful deep berry, perfect for this season. The formula didn't disappoint, it's creamy and greatly pigmented, the finish is matte and the lipstick lasts well for 3-4 hours even with some drinking in light snacking involved. And it doesn't feel drying on the lips. Also I don't need to use a lip liner with it as, despite the bold shade, it doesn't bleed outside the lip line. Great lipstick at a great price!
Last week I received quite a mystery parcel form Boots containing some products from well known brands available in Boots as a part of their #FaceOff campaign where they share different products every week and ask participants to create a look using them and share it on social media.
As I didn't expect any PR package I was super surprised to receive it and excited to try all the products.
The #BootsBeautyBox contained two lipsticks:
Maybelline Color Sensational Blushed Nudes Lipstick in shade Pink Fling, £6.99, very pretty pink nude, creamy and hydrating on the lips, not the most long wearing but easy to re-apply.
Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade Berry Boost, £6.99, I have spoken about this liquid lipsticks before and I am not the biggest fan of the formula but they're comfortable on the lips and leaves a nice stain behind. The shade Berry Boost is less berry and more hot fuchsia in my opinion but very pretty nonetheless.
This little palette contains highlighter, bronzer/sculpting powder and blush. As you can see from the swatches above these shades are most suited to pale skin tones as they're barely showing on mine, they're not crazy pigmented but buildable and I can definitely make them work for me. The blush is a very pretty peachy coral and I really like the highlighter which is subtle yet it adds nice luminosity to the skin. All the powders are finely milled, easy to blend and last up to 8 hours on my skin.
Last but not least I want to talk to you about this pretty eyeshadow palette, one of the new Fall releases from Sleek, called Goodnight Sweetheart. I have been a fan of Sleek eyeshadows for a long time and have many of their palettes, I think they have great formula, considering how affordable they are.
Goodnight Sweetheart is a mix of matte, shimmer and glittery shades in a beautiful range of colours perfect for Autumn.
I especially love Velvet Wrap - metallic burgundy, Romance - beautiful matte aubergine, Lingerie - duo-chrome light gold with pink shift, Dusk - gorgeous brown-ish taupe, Love Is In The Air - stunning grey-ish purple and Snuggle - duo-chrome olive green with red-ish shift.
All the shades are very well pigmented, apart from Sleeping Beauty which needs to be built up quite a bit, and they blend with ease, they do produce a bit of fallout though.
If you want to update your eyeshadow collection for the A/W season without breaking the bank then this Sleek palette is a great option.
So this is all for now, kudos to you if you stayed till the end :)
Have you tried any of these products?
