When I was planning blog posts for this week and trying to come up with new makeup look for my usual Friday makeup tutorial I was feeling a bit uninspired and didn't want to force myself to create something just for the sake of the blog (if you haven't already you can check my last week's Summer makeup look which I totally loved). So instead I've decided to show you my favourite 5 pink lipsticks which I've been loving wearing in the warmer weather and a simple eye makeup which goes well with any of these shades. This kind of makeup look has been my 'go to' for couple of months, my eyes look defined but quite simple and the bright lipstick plays the main role.
I love wearing bold lipsticks all year round but there's something about Summer that makes me favour bright colours on my lips over any nudes. Depending on my mood and the occasion I like to pair them different eye looks but, usually, I go for simply defined eyes (medium brown in the crease and deeper shade in the outer corner and on the lash line) with a bit of shimmer on the lid and let the lipstick do the talking :)
Hot pink and coral are my favourite Summer shades and today I'm sharing with you my top 5 pink lipsticks which not only look pretty but all have great formula.
I've said already many times that I am a big fan of the Matte Lipstick range from NYX, the quality is consistent with every colour I've tried. They're creamy, very pigmented, opaque in one swipe, have semi-matte/satin finish which I much prefer from a full on matte, last on the lips for good 4-5 hours and easily survive drinking or light meal eaten with cutleries. They don't bleed outside the lip line and are not drying at all, I'd say they feel actually quite hydrating. And what makes them even better is that they're affordable and come in a wide range of shades. Sweet Pink is a bright pink with purple undertones and it's such a fun Summer shade.
Wet 'N Wild isn't easily available in UK but you can find many of their products on Amazon, everything is much more expensive then in US but the Mega Last lipsticks are well worth getting, even with the higher price tag, because their formula is really great. Apart from the cheap and flimsy packaging these lipsticks can rival much more expensive ones. I have 4 different shades and they're all very pigmented, apply smoothly on the lips without accentuating lines or dry patches and last easily 4-5 hours without being drying. The finish is slightly more matte then the NYX lipsticks and they're less creamy but they still look very pretty on the lips. They don't feather or smear easily. Smokin' Hot Pink is just that, hot pink without being too neon-y.
ColourPop is still not readily available in UK but you can get their products using package forwarding companies (check how I got ColourPop shipped to UK). The brand came out recently with new Lippie Stix range, the MatteX, which has a full on matte finish but the formula is like no other matte lipstick I've tried. It's super lightweight, it applies without dragging, it's super pigmented and it doesn't accentuate lines, it will bring attention to very dry, flaky skin though. Although very matte it doesn't feel overly drying on the lips, I feel comfortable wearing it and I'm not a person who tolerates drying lipsticks. The formula doesn't bleed or slip around lips, it stays put for 5-6 hours depending on the amount of eating in the meantime. It's also easy to reapply when it's wearing off. Poppin' is a true, blue based, hot pink which looks flattering on so many skin tones.
This was a limited edition lipstick (although it's still available) but Urban Decay made the shade permanent in their new Vice range. I talked about Firebird before so won't be going into much detail right now. It's a creamy lipstick which definitely needs a helping hand from lip liner to stay on the lips for longer then 2-3 hours and to avoid slight bleeding. But it feels very comfortable on the lips and it's a beautiful fuchsia shade with blue shift to it making it quite unique and super fun for Summer.
Another lipstick that isn't available in UK, sorry, but I had to include it cause I love it. Mother is a more mauve and muted pink then the others but beautiful nonetheless. The formula of this liquid lipstick is excellent, very pigmented, easy to apply, dries out to a matte finish but it doesn't look dry and crusty like some other liquid lipsticks I've tried. It lasts hours on the lips, even with eating and drinking, although if you decide to eat a big burger or some greasy food it will wear off slightly. Even though it's long lasting I don't find it overly drying. It's a great choice when I want my lipstick to look good for a long time without having to worry about reapplying.
So these are my 'go to' Summer pink lipsticks, let me know if you'd like to see my favourite coral shades.
Have you tried any of these lipsticks? Which are your favourite lip shades for Summer?
