According to the calendar Summer is here, although looking through the window looks like it somehow missed UK and let Autumn come earlier.
Anyway, it's the time of year to dig out all pretty coral lipsticks as, right next to hot pinks, these shades are perfect for Summer, in my opinion. They make me think of holidays, beautiful sunsets and look especially flattering with bronzed, tanned skin.
Today I'm sharing with you my top 5 coral lipsticks which not only look pretty but also have great formulas.
After looking at all my coral lipsticks I could see very clear pattern, bright pink coral and red coral are my favourite shades and yes, one lipstick of each would be probably enough to see me through the Summer but a girls needs to have some options even if it's to decide which finish I want to go for that day, haha!
I like to pair coral lips with simple eye makeup on everyday basis. But if I want to glam up a bit more I love wearing red corals with golden eyes and bronzed skin and when reaching for pink corals I like to have a bit of peach-y/coral-y tones on my eyes, usually in the crease to tight the whole look together.
Coral shades are very flattering on many skin tones and they instantly brighten the face and make us look more youthful.
This is the lightest shade within this bunch and while I try to avoid light pinks as they usually wash me out this coral-y pink is quite flattering on my skin tone, it still looks brightening and youthful while being muted and perfect for a minimal everyday makeup.
I really like the formula of this Revlon lip product, it's similar to Nyx Lip Creams but less mousse-y and more creamy which I prefer and find it easier to apply evenly on the lips. Although the name says it's Matte this lipsticks dries out to satin, semi-matte finish and it feels very comfortable on the lips. It won't survive a proper meal but light snack or drink it's not a problem for it. The initial slightly glossy layer wears off rather quickly but it leaves behind a sort of stain that lasts well for a few hours. Another thing worth mentioning is that the scent of this lipstick is quite strong and reminds me of vanilla cupcakes which is fine with me but some people might be bothered by it.
It seems like there has to be one of the Nyx Matte Lipsticks in every of my lipsticks post but I am truly a massive fan of this range, these are excellent lipsticks, in my opinion, and very affordable.
Angel is a bright coral pink with semi-matte finish. It's super pigmented and it feels creamy and very comfortable on the lips. It lasts well throughout the day and only after a hearty meal you would need to re-apply it. It doesn't bleed outside the lip line and doesn't smear easily.
Yes, the packaging looks and is cheap but I don't mind it for the price and the fantastic product inside.
This shade is almost identical as Nyx Angel but the finish is slightly more glossy and of course the packaging is super elegant and fancy. The formula of this lipstick is amazing, it's super pigmented, opaque in one swipe, feels luxurious on the lips and it's not drying. It lasts well for a few hours even with light snacking and drinking but won't survive a proper meal. Also I find it bleeds ever so slightly after couple of hours so it's best to use a lip liner with this shade.
Beautiful red coral that instantly makes me look more rested, younger and happier :) I'm loving the shade and the formula of this lipsticks. It's well pigmented, very creamy, feels moisturising almost like a balm, it applies evenly, it has a glossy finish yet it lasts very well even with snacking and drinking. It doesn't bleed and it wears off beautifully leaving a stain behind. I only own couple of shades from this range so I'm not sure how consistent the formula is but the coral shade I'm recommending here is well worth getting. The lipstick has a slightly fruity chemical scent but it's not very noticeable and it doesn't linger for more then few seconds.
Another beautiful red coral which also comes in an amazing formula. I talked before about the Ultra Satin Lips (check my ColourPop haul and how I shipped it to UK) and I'm a big fan of this range. They're liquid lipsticks with satin/semi matte finish which are not transfer proof but are not drying like others can be, yet still last for hours on the lips. I'm happy to wear it for a meal out and I know that my lips will look completely fine by the end of it, unless, of course, I eat a massive burger with my hands, then the lipstick will wear off in the centre of the lips.
They're very pigmented and opaque in one layer, although the shade Naked Ladies will accentuate dry skin so the lips need to be exfoliated and well moisturised prior using this lipstick. I also like the small doe foot applicator which is very easy to use to apply the product on the lips.
Do you wear coral lipsticks during Summer? Which shades do you tend to reach for: coral pinks or reds or maybe oranges? I think I need some orange-y corals, any suggestions?
