Shopping my stash, project "pan" and spending ban

Today I'm coming with a bit of different post from my regular beauty reviews or makeup looks as I feel like the time has come to put myself on a spending ban and shop my stash. Ever since starting blogging about beauty my makeup collection has been steadily growing, which it's kind of understandable as I want to try different things in order to compare one to another and have a bigger knowledge of what works best for me, so my beauty reviews are more comprehensive and useful.
Of course being a beauty blogger and reading lots of other blogs made me become a beauty junkie which I don't regret in the slightest and I'm thoroughly enjoying trying and testing new products.
But I've reached a point when I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed with the amount of makeup I have, even though I'm sure it's not the biggest collection you've ever seen, and I'm slightly sad that all these products that I spent so much money on aren't being used enough.
So it's time to challenge myself to not buy any new makeup, which isn't necessary, for at least a month and shop my stash to show more love to those neglected products that have been in my collection for awhile.

shop my stash project

Although I try to reach for different products when doing my makeup the truth is that I tend to go for my recent purchases and because they happen quite often, the older products get a bit forgotten.
So I went through my makeup collection and chose products which I've had for quite a long time and those that I've been neglecting for months and I intend to use them, almost exclusively, for a month and then I will swap them for another set of makeup, to make sure that all my collection is being used.
I'm quite good at finishing off my skincare products and never have too many opened at the same time but it's a totally different story with makeup. Although I do tend to buy mascaras and concealers when I actually need them so don't have more then 2, 3 'on the go' at one given time.
My plan is to finish off some of my older foundations, primers and powders. I would be very happy if I managed to hit pan on some of my eyeshadows but that's quite hard to do in a month.

Let me show you which products went to my acrylic drawers on the top of my makeup table to be used on everyday basis.

Primers

makeup primers

Soap & Glory One Heck Of A Blot Primer - this is one of my favourite primers I've ever tried, it's not old by any means and it's been used almost every day so I'm hoping to finish it off this month.
L'Oreal Revitalift Magic Blur - I've had this primer for almost a year and I'm not even sure if I like it cause I used it only a few times, so it's time to test this bad boy and decide if it's worth keeping it in my collection.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal - this liquid highlighter is gorgeous but for some reason I rarely used it, I've had this sample for almost 2 years so it's time to give it the last shot.
Seventeen Wow! Skin Highlighter - another beautiful liquid highlighter which works also well as a luminous primer so it will be perfect for a glowy Spring/Summer skin.

Foundations, powders

foundations and powders

Dior Star foundation in 020 Light Beige - this is the oldest foundation in my stash, I've had it for 18 months or so and it's time to finish it up. I remember not loving it when I bought it but now that my skin is not very oily anymore, I really enjoy using it. It gives good medium coverage, it has beautiful finish and it lasts well on my skin for almost all day.
Nars All Day Luminous Weightless foundation in Deauville - I've had this foundation for almost a year but I rarely use it cause I'm not a big fan of it (read my review), I will try to make it work for me one more time this month though.
L'Oreal Infallible 24H Matte foundation in Natural Rose (review) - this time last year I was obsessed with this foundation, it's really good for oily skin, it has good coverage and it lasts all day but the shade is definitely on a lighter side so when my face got tanned a bit I moved to different foundation and never came back to this. So this month I intend to finish it off.
L'Oreal True Match powder - I like this powder, it sets the makeup really well without being cakey and I almost used it all but something else distracted me so I put it away in my makeup drawer and forgot about it. So now it's time to bring it back.
Makeup Revolution Radiant Light powder - I love this finishing powder/highlighter, it gives a beautiful luminosity to the skin without being too shimmery, the formula is very similar to Hourglass Ambient Lighting powder in Dim Light. I used to use it very often but then I got new things to play with so this was neglected, I will be showing it my love again this month.
Laura Geller Balance-n- Brighten Baked Foundation in Medium - I got this deluxe sample a year ago or so, used it a few times as a foundation and liked it but my skin was getting quite oily with it so it went to the back of the makeup drawer. But I want to use it again, this time to set my foundation with it, so I'm excited to bring it back, we'll see how it goes.

Contouring kits

contouring kits

BarryM Flawless Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit - this kit was one of the first contouring kits I bought over a year ago and I used it quite a bit, I want to use it more this month to see if I still like it and maybe hit pan on some of those powders.
Inglot HD Contouring Powders - I'm sure you've seen these powders on my makeup posts a lot cause I do use them very often. I especially love the under eye setting powder #503 as it really brightens the skin. The bronzing shade #508 gives me very natural contour and I like it to use it even on everyday basis if I have more then 5 minutes to get ready in the morning.

Blushes

blushes

Inglot blushes #82 and #72 (check my review) - these have amazing formula but, honestly, I don't remember when was the last time I use either of them as I got so many new blushes and blush palettes lately, so they need to be bring back on the top of my vanity.
Milani Baked Blushes Luminoso and Bella Rosa - I love Luminoso but only tend to reach for it during Spring and Summer so now it's the perfect time to take it out, I haven't used the Bella Rosa for ages though so it will be joining her sister in the 'everyday makeup' drawer.
Freedom Makeup Pro Glow in Purr - I love this bronzer/blush/highlighter and use it quite often on those busy mornings when I want some definition to my cheeks but can't be bothered with too many products, this gives my skin slightly bronzed look, it adds a bit of colour and beautiful subtle glow. I want to use it more this month and maybe I will manage to see pan in it :)
Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts blusher - I love this pink blush which adds gorgeous glow to the skin but I haven't used it in a long time so now I need to show it more love.
Makeup Revolution Goddess Of Love Highlighter - another product which I completely neglected in the last year so it will be used more in the next few weeks as it's a beautiful iridescent champagne shade.

Eyeshadow palettes

eyeshadow palettes

Too Faced Everything Nice palette (limited edition) - with the amount of eyeshadow palettes I own it's not a surprise that many of them are neglected but I want to use all of them more often so for the next few weeks I will be reaching for this palette which was a Holidays Limited Edition for Christmas 2014. It has some gorgeous cheeks products and one of my favourite bronzer so it's a win-win situation. I love this palette, from the cute packaging to the quality of all the products inside.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna Palette (limited edition) - this was my first higher end palette which I bought almost 2 years ago and I was absolutely in love with it but of course it got neglected at some point when other palettes found the way into my hands.
Stila Eyes Are The Window palette in Spirit (review) - I got this palette for Christmas 2014 and used it a lot for a few months but, again, at some point it had to take the back seat so now I'm bringing it back to work as it's a beautiful, everyday palette.

I didn't choose any specific mascaras, concealers or brow products because, as I mentioned already, I use them up quite regularly and don't own too many of them. When it comes to lip products, I rotate them frequently and I feel like they all get quite a bit of use on regular basis.

So that's it, this is my little makeup challenge for the next few weeks. Wish me 'good luck' with my spending ban because I know it will be very hard not to treat myself as I have so many things on my wish list.

What about you?
Do you feel like your makeup collection is getting out of control? Do you shop your stash regularly?
