Today I'm excited to share with you another limited edition Holiday 2015 palette, (you can check the other ones here and here), this time from Stila and it's the gorgeous Trust in Love set (£30) which I got from Beauty Bay. I have to be honest and say that what made me buy the set was the packaging, how gorgeous is it?! Inspired by old style love letters, golden with beautiful design all over it. The truth is I don't need more eyeshadows ( I wouldn't need more even if I was granted another life) but, being a makeup
junkie collector, I can't resist a limited edition palette which is so pretty. Fortunately for me the quality of products inside is really good so it's all so much more worth purchasing. I have a few Stila palettes and their eyeshadows are really nice but I find majority of those in this new palette better then any others I've tried. If you're tempted to treat yourself or a friend to this Holiday palette keep on reading to see if it's worth it :)
The palette/set comes in an outer pretty golden packaging which I may need to keep (although I keep nearly all pretty outer packaging, I know, don't ask me why) as the names of the eyeshadows are printed only on there, how strange is that!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how pretty and unique the packaging is?
It's made of good quality thick cardboard and it feels sturdy. It's not the most practical or compact and travel friendly but who cares, we all have lots of other travel friendly palettes :)
When we open the pretty box/letter we're greeted with a nice size mirror, 12 eyeshadows, 1g each, deluxe samples of Stila Lip Glaze in Apricot, 1.5ml and Huge Extreme Lash Mascara, 6ml. Eyeshadows come with different finishes from matte, satin to shimmery and nice selection of colours perfect for everyday wear but can easily be used for a dramatic smokey eyes. Their overall quality is really good with couple of them being a bit harder to work with.
The top row of eyeshadows (swatches done without any primer underneath).
Warm Silver - silvery taupe, good pigmentation, very soft and easy to blend but the texture is quite crumbly so when touching it with either brush or finger it kicks up a lot of product and creates lots of fallout, performs better used with damp brush.
Fog - greatly pigmented, buttery soft, cool toned grey-ish brown with matte finish.
Nude Shimmer - gorgeous pink-y champagne shimmer, quite similar to Stila Kitten, great pigmentation, silky texture.
Clay - another fantastic quality matte shade, dusty beige-y rose, perfect in the crease or all over the lid for a simple, elegant look.
Golden Topaz - my absolutely favourite from the palette, stunning peachy copper with metallic finish, the pigmentation and texture is fantastic.
Plum - beautiful deep plum with semi matte/satin finish, great pigmentation and texture, but it creates some fallout.
The bottom row of eyeshadows (swatches done without primer underneath).
Black Pearl - deep grey with silver micro shimmer, great pigmentation and easy to blend although it is prone to fallout.
Stone - beautiful light caramel brown with taupe undertones, satin finish, good pigmentation and formula.
Sapphire - deep royal blue with pearl finish, well pigmented and nice soft formula.
Metallic Bronze - deep bronze with red undertones, metallic finish, great pigmentation and formula.
Snowflake - frosty white with pink undertones, well pigmented and nice and easy to work with.
Light Pink - very light neutral pink with matte finish, great pigmentation and texture.
Stila Lip Glaze in Apricot - I'm not a fan of this product, simply because I don't like wearing lip glosses nowadays and this is exactly that, the formula is quite sticky and the colour, while being pretty, doesn't really show up on my lips. Nothing bad with the product though.
Huge Extreme Lash Mascara - I do like this mascara, the brush is very similar to the one from Too Faced Better Then Sex mascara but I actually prefer this as it's slightly smaller and easier to work with. This mascara lifts my lashes, lengthens them and adds volume, it has quite wet formula so I have to be careful not to create a spidery, clumpy looking lashes but I'm guessing that when it dries up a bit it will be just perfect.
I'm very happy with the Trust in Love set and have been using it every day since I got it last week, the selection of eyeshadows is really nice, although I would love to see a deep chocolate matte brown included but I do have many of those in my other palettes so it's not a big deal. I think this palette looks just stunning and it would make a perfect gift for any makeup lover.
