If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen that recently I got my first MAC lipsticks. Yes, you read that right, it took me only few years to join the big following and finally try the cult product, LOL! There is no MAC counter anywhere close to where I live and I couldn't be bothered to try to choose from the hundreds shades of lipsticks online, until couple of weeks ago when I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I bought Brave - Satin finish and Craving - Amplified Crème finish, I love them both but I'm still not entirely sure about all the hype surrounding MAC lipsticks but that's a great topic for another post :) Today I want to share with you the perfect 'dupe' for MAC's Craving, in case you love the shade but want more affordable option.
As soon as I swatched MAC Craving at home I knew immediately that I have another lipstick with very similar shade, it's the Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Plumful, (check my review here), one of my favourite lipsticks for Autumn. And now I have two the same shades, very convenient, I can keep one on my vanity table and one in my handbag for touch-ups on the go as they're almost identical. MAC Craving and Milani Plumrose are deep pinks with plummy undertones.
As you can see from the picture of swatches above, the difference between these shades is really minimal. And not only do they match when it comes to colour but also the formula is very similar:
* both lipsticks are very pigmented and you don't need much effort to achieve an opaque finish,
* both are creamy and easy to apply it without dragging the skin,
* both feel very comfortable on the lips, yet last 3-4 hours while eating and drinking in the meantime,
* both formulas don't bleed and wear off evenly.
I tested them together applying MAC's Craving to half of my lips and Milani's Plumrose to other half and not only I couldn't see any difference but also I didn't feel any when wearing them on.
Of course the obvious difference is in packaging, the price: £15.50 vs £5 (you can find Milani products in UK on Beauty Crowd website) and the scent: Milani lipsticks have fruity scent vs light vanilla of MAC lipsticks.
Unless you're MAC lipsticks collector I'm sure you'd be very happy with the cheaper alternative as they're pretty much the same, when it comes to shade and formula.
Do you have MAC Craving? Would you prefer to buy a 'dupe' of it or do you think nothing compares to the original?
