NARS is a brand I haven't tried much from, mostly because there is no counter in the area where I live and ordering expensive makeup online, without being able to see it in person, is a bit of a risk that I don't like to take too often. But whatever I've tried from NARS I was always impressed by everything, from the packaging to the quality of the product. So imagine my excitement but also shock, when a few weeks ago I received a private message on Twitter from the brand asking for my details with the explanation that they want to thank me for being a loyal #NARSissist! First, I thought it was kind of a mistake or a joke, but after checking the official social media for NARS it seemed like it was safe to provide my address. A few days later a little package was delivered by FedEx to my house right from US :)
After opening the package I was greeted by a little 'thank you' note and two makeup items neatly wrapped in a tissue paper with a ribbon. There was an eyeshadow duo Jardin Perdu and eyeliner from the Night Series line in the shade Night Flight. Both of them are from quite recent Fall 2014 collection. I was very happy to have received eyeshadows as I've not tried any from NARS and as you know, eyeshadows are my greatest makeup obsession :)
The Jardin Perdu eyeshadow duo contains two metallic shades, steel grey and amethyst with very subtle blue duo-chrome. Both eyeshadows are incredibly smooth and buttery soft, with amazing pigmentation, especially the grey shade which feels like a foil eyeshadow. They blend really nicely and stay on my lids between 8-10 hours without creasing or fading, depending if I use a primer underneath or not. They can be applied dry or wet but I haven't used them wet as the intensity of the dry colour is enough for me. Both shades work beautifully together and layered one on top of the other give an amazing 'new' shade. I've worn them on my lids with only a bit of bronzer in the crease and they look great, especially when paired with the Night Flight eyeliner.
The shade I received is a beautiful deep navy with blue sparkles. The texture is soft but firm enough to be able to draw a precise line without dragging the skin, it applies very smoothly and once is set, it doesn't budge all day. Even though this eyeliner is long lasting my usual Garnier micellar water removes it with no problems.
Here are the swatches of the Jardin Perdu eyeshadow duo and the Night Flight eyeliner.
I'm very impressed with the quality of these products and will definitely try to explore the brand more. Obviously, NARS products are not cheap but once in a while everyone deserves a little treat and it seems like this brand is the one to deliver it.
