Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipsticks - review and swatches

Makeup Revolution is one of my favourite drugstore brands, especially when it comes to eyeshadows and cheek products but recently they have released some fantastic lipsticks from the Iconic Pro line and as soon as they were available on the website I ordered three shades. Makeup Revolution claims that their new lipsticks have intensive coverage and are comfortable to wear and I have to agree that they're really great and even though I've had them only for a few days I've been wearing them every day and I couldn't wait to share them with you.

As you can see the packaging resembles the Mac lipsticks and knowing Makeup Revolution being the king of dupes it was for sure intended. It's a lacquered plastic which looks shiny and pretty but, of course, gets finger prints very quickly. On the bottom we have insert with the colour of the lipstick which is great when choosing the lipstick without having to open it. I also like the rose gold details, they add to the prettiness of the bullet. There 20 shades to choose from, some of them have also matte version. I bought 2 glossy ones and 1 matte.

Formula wise, these are one of the best drugstore lipsticks I've tried, they apply smoothly to the lips, the pigmentation is great, depending on the shade you might need to build up the colour but they're definitely not sheer. I didn't notice any bleeding with any of the shades that I own and all of them last on my lips for a few hours before the need to touch up. Non of them dried up my lips, they feel very comfortable and quite moisturising. They have a nice, delicate scent that reminds me of vanilla cupcake but they don't taste like one ;)

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick

You're a Star is a lovely nude shade with satin finish, it applies smoothly but it needs couple of layers for full opacity, it lasts about 3-4 hours on my lips even when drinking and having a snack, it does settle in the lines after a while but rubbing the lips together solves the little issue. I love this shade with dark smokey eyes :)
Make It in the City - bright fuchsia with blue undertones and glossy finish, I needed a few layers to get the opacity I like. It doesn't accentuate any dryness or lines and lasted on my lips 4-5 hours, while drinking and eating, before I needed to touch it up. While wearing off it loses the glossiness but leaves a stain behind which is not patchy or weird looking. For such a bright colour it lasts exceptionally well.
Duel Matte - deep cherry red with semi-matte finish, it applies vey smoothly, you get full opacity with 1-2 swipes and it's not drying at all. I was amazed how well it lasted on my lips without bleeding and only wearing off slightly in the middle of the lips after having a proper meal. I'd say that you can forget about it for 5-6 hours and then you might want to touch it up.

I'm very impressed wit the quality of these lipsticks, they're great not only for the price but they're genuinely fantastic lip products and considering they're only £2.49 each you have to try them. I know I will buy more shades and I hope the line is consistent and they'll be as good as the three I already have.
Have you tried the Iconic Pro lipsticks?

  21. The packaging of these is so nice, considering the incredibly reasonable price! Better still, it sounds like the product inside is even more fantastic. I'm definitely going to have a look at these next time I'm in Superdrug.

  22. They look really lovely on you Dagmara. I know it's a weird thing to comment on, but I just don't like the lines on the side of each lipstick bullet - thats the only thing holding me back from ordering any, I think it makes them look like toy lipsticks that I had when I was little haha xx

  24. Oh wow.. MUR definitely upped their game with these lipsticks. They look a lot more high end and the colours are beautiful. I'm a sucker for nudes so You're a Star was the one that grabbed my attention the most. But they all look lovely on you and you can't beat that price. :) x

  27. Haha! Yeah, I did noticed these too but it doesn't actually bother me at all :) If they were Chanel or Dior, the line would be unacceptable though but for £2.49 I can overlook that :) x

  28. Definitely try them, especially the darker colours have great staying power! x

  30. Dual Matte looks gorgeous on you! 'Your a Star' looks like a slightly lighter version of MAC Cosmetic's 'Hot Gossip'.
