Friday FOTD #14 Subtle cut crease and bright lips

The cut crease trend in makeup has been very popular lately and I have to admit that I really like. It looks stunning on big eyes with large space between crease and the brow bone but also gives an illusion of bigger eyes to those with hooded eyelids. My eyes are slightly hooded but also have very small space between the crease and my brows so many eye looks just don't suit my eye shape but I persisted and come up with a look that is a subtle version of the cut crease.
I wanted to keep my eyes quite neutral and pair them with bright coral lips - the courtesy of my new friend Natalie, the Audacious Lipstick :)

To create my eye makeup I used my Inglot eyeshadows, for the crease part all shades were matte and on the lid I applied a pearl shimmer champagne colour to make it more glamorous but the look can be easily toned down by using all matte shades. The important thing to follow when doing a cut crease is to use darker shades in the crease and much lighter on the lid for the contrast effect. I used for my crease medium and dark brown with a bit of coral on the outer edge to add a tiny bit of colour to my eyes and match it nicely with my lipstick.

(Please excuse how dirty my brushes are but the pictures were taken just after I did my makeup)

*After priming my eyelids with concealer, as usual, I applied shade #357 with Zoeva 227/Luxe Soft Definer in and above my crease as a transition colour.
*Using Zoeva 320/Smokey Liner and shade #329 I drew a defined line just right above my crease and blended it lightly upwards using Zoeva 231/Luxe Petit Crease. I repeated this step couple of times until I was satisfied with the intensity of the cut crease.
*Using fluffy brush - Zoeva 224/Luxe Defined Crease I lightly blended the edges of my eyeshadows using the shade #361.
*With dampened Zoeva 232/Classic Shader brush I applied the shade #395 all over my lid carefully, not to go over the defined crease.
*I sticked a piece of clear tape from the corner of my eye in the angle towards the end of my brows and drew a small winged liner with the L'Oreal Super Liner in Intense Black. You can make it as long/thick as you wish if it suits your eye shape. Then using the Zoeva #231 brush and a bit of shade #329 I deepened the crease and slightly winged it out to make it look like an extension of my liner.
*Using the Zoeva 230/Luxe Pencil brush I lined my lower lash line with shade #329 and then blended it with shade #357 and a bit of #361.
*With Zoeva 238/Precise Shader brush I added #395 in the inner corners of my eyes.
*To finish of the eyes I applied the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara to my lashes and added Red Cherry false lashes, lined my waterline with Rimmel Scandaleyes Nude pencil and filled my brows with Rimmel Eyebrow pencil in Hazelnut.

Face:
Primer - Benefit the Porefessional
Foundation - Revlon Color Stay in Sand Beige.
Concealer - Maybelline Better Stay in Light to hide under eye circles and L'Oreal Lumi Magique in Light to highlight under eye area.
Powder - L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder in Light to set everything in place.
Bronzer - to lightly contour my face and add a bit of warmth to my skin I used the BarryM Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit.
Blush - Sephora blush #10 Romantic Rose which has gorgeous peach-y pink colour.
Highlighter - the Balm Mary-Lou Maniser, I've finally got this and I'm in love, it's such a gorgeous champagne shade and it looks beautiful on the skin.

For my lips I used the star of the show, the Nars Audacious Lipstick in Natalie.

And that's the finished look :)

  5. The cut crease is so cool - when your eyes are open it looks quite subtly defining then dramatic with them closed :) xx

  7. I have an evening out coming up soon so I'm going to give this cut crease look a go! It looks ace on you as usual! Also very tempted to splurge on a lot of the Zoeva brushes at the moment - I'm going to justify it by saying I NEED rather than want them as I've only got a couple of eye brushes at the moment!

  8. I haven't been able to work out the cut crease for my eyes yet and I am definitely a 'blender' (I think I blend my shadows too much sometimes so I can never achieve this kind of look). But you pulled it off really well for your eyes. I like that it's subtle when your eyes are open & then defined when you close your eyes x
