I heard about The Library of Fragrance a few months ago when the brand came on to the UK market and some bloggers started reviewing their fragrances. What intrigued me most about them were the names of the scents, Gin and Tonic, Paperback, Rain to mention just a few. So I went onto their website and started reading more about the brand.
The Library of Fragrance is part of a US company called Demeter Fragrance Library Inc., they create fragrances that capture all the amazing smells that surround us every day. They have over 300 unique scents in the collection, 100 of them being available to purchase in UK.
After months of trying to find them in my local Boots I finally decided to order online and picked two fragrances, one of them being Sunshine (£15).
It's Spring time, the sun is shining more often so the fragrance seems just perfect right now.
So what does the Sunshine smell like?, I hear you asking :)
I was very curious about the scent and couldn't imagine what it would be like. I just knew it has to be pleasant because there can't be anything bad about sunshine.
And once I sprayed the fragrance around me I didn't have doubts that it's the smell of sunshine and have fallen in love with the scent.
The Library of Fragrance describes the Sunshine in these words:
"Think of your favourite, most comfortable cotton T-Shirt, warmed by the sun and summer skin, with just a hint of suntan lotion."
While I can't really smell the warmed by the sun cotton T-shirt, (or the sweaty T-shirt, thank goodness), the scent is definitely on the warm side, it's cosy but not overpowering, just gives the nice feeling of wanting to be wrapped up in it. It does make me think of sunshine, Summer days, sunbathing and feeling happy. I love it and keep using it nearly every day.
This scent lasts on my skin around 4 hours which isn't the longest but considering is a cologne spray the longevity is quite good. The small 30ml bottle is perfect to have it in my bag and refresh the scent throughout the day.
The Library of Fragrance describe their scents as 'linear' fragrances which means that they're 'single note' scents and they don't change over time like our usual fragrances with 'top', 'heart' and 'base' notes. This characteristic allows to mix and match different scents to get a custom fragrance.
Together with Sunshine I ordered Daisy as I love the flowers, they're one of my favourite things about Spring.
And while I like the scent of Daisy which is very fresh with green notes, it doesn't last very well on my skin, so I started pairing it with Sunshine and now I have the perfect fragrance for a Spring :)
First I spray my skin with Sunshine which is a bit heavier and then add a bit of Daisy for extra freshness.
I'm very impressed and intrigued by the collection of scents which The Library of Fragrance have in offer and want to try so many more, like Peony, Rain, Apple Blossom, Mountain Air or Ocean.
I think I'm developing a new obsession :) It's good that these fragrances are quite affordable!
Have you tried any scents from The Library of Fragrance? Which one is your favourite?
