Blue eye shadow is not our first choice when it comes to makeup, in fact many people stay clear from it being a reminder of all the makeup mistakes we used to make when we were much younger (bright blue all over the lid anyone, lol). The scary memories aside I like to experiment with all colours on my eyes and last weekend, while looking through my eye shadow palettes, this beautiful metallic blue shade from Urban Decay Vice 3 palette (review) called mine name :) Its name is Freeze and it was actually a very cold day indeed, so I thought that I'm going to create an eye look inspired by a Winter, frosty day.
These are the shades I used in my eye makeup look.
Freeze is a frosty sea blue, Heroine is a matte navy blue and Bobby Dazzle is a shimmery white.
And that's how I used them for the look.
1 - after priming my lids with my Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin concealer I applied Freeze on my entire lid stopping just before the crease.
2 - with a tapered brush I darken the outer corner with Heroine.
3 - with the same brush I defined the crease with Heroine concentrating the colour in the outer part of the crease.
4 - using fluffy blending brush I blended the Heroine in to the crease so there were no harsh lines and the colour was diffused seamlessly.
5 - I applied Bobby Dazzle in the 1/3 inner part of my eye lid and the inner corner.
6 - with a small pencil brush I smudged Freeze on my lower eye lid, darkening the outer corner with Heroine.
7 - after cleaning up any fallout I used my under eye concealer, applied my foundation, then filled in my brows with my usual Rimmel Eye Brow pencil in Dark Brown and set it with L'Oreal Brow Artist Plumper Brow gel in Medium/Dark.
8 - next I lined my lashes with black eye liner - Oriflame The One Eye Liner Stylo and my waterline with L'Oreal Colour Riche Kohl in 120 Immaculate Snow.
9 - after applying one coat of Seventeen Dolle'd Up mascara to my lashes I added Red Cherry false lashes to finish off the eye look.
For my base I used:
Primer - L'Oreal Nude Magique Blur Cream.
Foundation - Dior Star in 020, if you read my review of this foundation you know I wasn't very impressed with its staying power but now, during Winter, when my skin is less oily and if I prime it well before applying the foundation the longevity of it is better and I'm actually enjoying using it.
Concealers - Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin in 02Light to hide the under eye dark circles and L'Oreal Lumi Magique in Light for highlighting.
Powder - to set my foundation and keep the skin matte for longer I used Essence All About Matte fixing powder.
Bronzer - I wanted keep the rest of my face on the cool side so I used only a tiny bit of Rimmel Natural bronzer in 022 Sun Bronze to add dimensions to my face.
Highlighter - Makeup Revolution Radiant Light powder in Breathe, I'm absolutely obsessed with this powder, it gives such a natural glow to the skin without any shimmer (picture in the right corner), using duo-fibre brush I lightly dust the centre of my face with it.
Blush - two of the cool toned pink blushes from the Makeup Revolution 'Golden Sugar' palette (review).
Lipstick - the beautiful NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna (review).
After finishing applying all the products I used the Makeup Revolution Pro Fix Makeup Setting Spray to help all of them melt together and prolong the longevity of the makeup.
And that's the finished look :)
I like the blue eyes and I think the look is quite wearable, maybe not for a day in the office or a school run but I'd definitely wear it on weekends.
Let me know if is this a makeup look you would wear or you rather stay away from blue eye shadows?
