What I love about Christmas

With Christmas being only 2 days away I wanted to share with you a quick post about why I love Christmas. I think we all, more or less, enjoy that festive time of year. When I reached my early 20s I wasn't too crazy about Christmas to be honest, for me it was just lots shopping, cleaning, cooking and I was bored of it. But the older I get, and especially now having my own kids, the more Christmas has his magic back and I'm so happy about it.

NYE party dresses

Happy Monday all! We've officially started Christmas week and that makes me really happy and excited despite me and my younger son fighting nasty cold, hopefully we'll recover on time to fully enjoy the festivities. Today I decided to break form my usual beauty talk as I've been trying to find the perfect dress for the New Year's Eve party and thought I would share with you my top picks. If you're anything like me and shop for your outfits in the last minutes then this post might be helpful for you :)

Makeup look: Christmas Day/party glam

With Christmas Day being exactly one week from today I decided to share with you the makeup look I will be most likely wearing that day. And it's a classic look with red lips playing the main role, I know, you've seen hundreds of those looks but I feel like Christmas just calls for sparkly eyes and red lips. Don't you think?
I have created rather Christmassy look a few weeks ago using Urban Decay Vice 4 palette (review) with quite bold, green eye makeup and red lips (check it out here) but today my eyes are neutral and the focus is on the red lipstick I'm wearing. The classic Hollywood glam look.

Get your skin party ready

With the festive season upon us and many parties, dinners to attend I'm sure all of us want to look our best. We spend hours choosing the perfect outfit, styling our hair, painting our nails and doing makeup. We want our skin to look youthful, glowing and like after a pampering visit to a SPA. But I'm sure that with all the expenses of Christmas shopping not many of us can afford expensive facials at this time of year. So why not do it at home, with the products we already have, in the comfort of our bathroom/bedroom. Nothing will beat a consistent good skincare routine but everyone will benefit from some extra pampering session. I do this normally once a week but if I have some party or special event in plans I'm bond to do this three steps routine the day before to be sure that my skin looks its best, smoother, brighter and glowing.

Festive red lips and nails

There is something very glamorous and festive about red lips and nails and as we have approached that time of year of Christmas parties I've decided to share with you my favourite red lipsticks and nail polishes that look very much Christmassy in my opinion. I wasn't a fan of red lip products until some time last year but now I'm loving them, especially for those times when I want to look and feel glamorous. There is something fabulous about wearing red lipstick, it makes you feel confident, powerful, classy and sexy. You just need to find the right shade and formula to feel comfortable wearing it. As for the nails, most of you probably agree, that red nail polish adds glamour to any outfit.

Makeup through the decades #7 - 1980s, collaboration with Angela from Chocolate and Lipstick

Don't we just love the 80s?! How colourful and crazy was that era?! Everything, from fashion and hair to makeup, was over the top, bold and daring. And I might be old and in minority but I just love 80s music :) Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Wham!, The Police, Europe, Queen, Bon Jovi and many more!
Even though I was growing up in 80s I was still too young to fully follow the fashion trends but I do remember them and while they make us laugh nowadays, you can't deny that they will be forever very characteristic to that decade.
Today's post is a collaboration with my blogging buddy Angela from Chocolate and Lipstick who created an awesome 80s makeup look inspired by the fabulous Cyndi Lauper, check out her post.

Splurge or save #4 Too Faced 'Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar' palette vs Makeup Revolution 'Salted Caramel'

Ever since falling in love with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette some time last year, I knew I want to get the Semi-Sweet palette and was waiting patiently for it to be available in UK. When it finally was I hesitated, you know, the normal feeling of remorse of having too many eyeshadow palettes, but I could not stop thinking of this palette, (nothing hunts us more then the things we didn't buy, right?), so when Debenhams was running an offer of 20% off beauty I didn't wait any longer and bought the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette to complete the family :)
Around the same time Makeup Revolution released a few new eyeshadow palettes including the Salted Caramel palette which looked just like the perfect 'dupe' for the Too Faced offering. And we all know that Makeup Revolution is really good at bringing alternatives of much more expensive products soI just had to buy their palette. I thought it would be a great idea to compare both palettes to see if it's better to splurge on the Too Faced one or safe with the Makeup Revolution (check my comparison post on the original Chocolate Bar palette vs Makeup Revolution).
I have tested both palettes against each other for a few weeks and I'm ready to share with you my thoughts.

Freedom Makeup & House of Glamdolls 'Vintage Doll Look' palette - review and makeup look

If you're a fan of Freedom Makeup (the sister brand of Makeup Revolution) then you know that they teamed up with House of Glamdolls, London based makeup school with the talented makeup artist David Horne as the main tutor, and offered short makeup courses which I was lucky to attend one of them (read about my experience here). Recently Freedom Makeup in collaboration with House of Glamdolls launched 4 new makeup palettes with different themes. I was kindly sent the Vintage Doll Look palette (£8)* and decided to share with you my thoughts on it and makeup look I created using it.

Trialling some skincare products from Freedom Makeup

Freedom Makeup, the sister brand of Makeup Revolution, has recently launched lots of new products (check my review of their contour kit) including some skincare. When I was kindly sent a few samples I was excited to try them but also a bit apprehensive because very affordable skincare products don't seem to work well for my 36 years old skin. But I was pleasantly surprised, so after trialling these products for over 3 weeks I'm ready to share with you my thoughts on them.

Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Self-Made' palette - review and swatches

Another Monday and another eyeshadow palette on my blog, it has become almost a tradition :) I bought quite a few eyeshadow palettes in the last couple of months and you know how passionate I am about eyeshadows, so I just have to share them with you. Today I want to talk about the Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Self-Made' palette (£27) which is the latest addition to her range. It was available in UK through Cult Beauty and Beauty Bay but at the moment is unfortunately out of stock on both sites but you still can get it from ABH website or from Sephora.

Makeup through the decades #6: 1970s

Welcome to 1970s! (Check out the 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s, 20s) The decade of flared trousers, hippie style, ABBA, Bee Gees, Diana Ross, Sarah Fawcett and disco! There was lots of diversity in makeup, from very natural hippie look, through glamorous disco style to avant-garde punk. With the average women going for a very natural looking makeup with the emphasis on the eyes. 1970s was a time of lots of political, economical and social changes. With women having their rights established and equalled with men, they felt liberated and powered. Sassy, independent woman was the characteristic trend in 70s.

My current favourite foundations, for combination/oily skin.

Finding the right foundation can be a bit challenging and I've been through many bottles, from very affordable ones to quite expensive, some were very good, some not so much but I'm yet to find the 'holy grail' foundation. Although I might be getting closer to that special product. Today I want to share with you my current favourite foundations which I've been using for the last few months and have been very happy with the way they work for me. For reference, my skin is combination, with a bit oilier T-Zone and normal cheeks, during Autumn/Winter it tends to get dehydrated with some dry patches. Although my skin's appearance has improved significantly over the last 6 months or so, I still have some hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone so I like my foundation to have medium-full coverage. I normally struggle with my foundation to look flawless for longer then 6 hours, so the longevity of it is another important aspect for me.

Makeup Revolution 'Pink Fizz' palette - review and swatches

Let's start the week with something fun and girly to make our Monday just a bit better! :)
New Makeup Revolution I ♡ Makeup 'Pink Fizz' palette (£7.99)* makes me think of parties, celebrations and nights out with friends. From the cute pink chocolate inspired packaging to the shades inside it screams 'let's have fun, girl' (no? just me then? oh well!). 'Pink Fizz' palette is one of the latest additions to the I ♡ Makeup chocolate palettes range and it was highly anticipated since some sneak peeks on Makeup Revolution Instagram feed a few months ago. As a big fan of their chocolate palettes I was quite excited when this one was kindly sent to me and I started playing it almost straight away (after taking all the blog pictures of course, lol!).

Day and night time makeup look using Urban Decay Vice 4 - collab with iDorottka

Another Friday (yey to Friday!) and another makeup look on my blog. It's a special one today as it's a collaboration with my friend Dorota from iDorottka, whom I met through Instagram and instantly connected with her bubbly personality and obsession with eyeshadow palettes and lipsticks :) We both recently bought the Urban Decay Vice 4 palettes (check my review) and decided to create some looks using it and share them with you. Dorota has created more day appropriate look and I did an evening/Christmas party one because you know, I like bold eye makeup :)

Recent empties: skincare

I haven't done an 'empties' post for absolutely ages but thinking that many people like to read about products that were actually finished and thoroughly tested I decided to start this series on my blog again. I've been trying to do Instagram updates on my finished products with the hash tag #instaempties but to be honest I don't really keep up with it. And having finished a good number of skincare which started to clutter my bathroom I wanted to share with you my quick thoughts on them before I toss them into the trash bin.

Urban Decay Vice 4 palette - review and swatches

Happy Monday all! I'm kicking off the week with one of my favourite things: eyeshadow palette, and not any palette but the much anticipated Urban Decay Vice 4 palette (£43). Ever since falling in love with last year's Vice 3 palette I knew that I will most definitely be adding to my collection any other Vice palette if they will be released in the future. As soon as I saw that Vice 4 was coming I couldn't wait for it to be available in UK so I could get my hands on it. Just like any other Vice palettes, Vice 4 contains 20 colourful shades and while I adore my neutrals and use them most days in my makeup, I also love colourful eyeshadows and play with them very often, so for me this is an exciting kind of palette with different, more unique shades.

Makeup through the decades #5 1960s

Welcome to the 60s! A youth oriented decade with makeup ranging from the au naturel hippie look (late 60s) to the dramatic black and white eyes of mod look (modernist), the London Look. After the elegant phase in 1950s (check my post here) with simple cat eye and red lips, the 60s is the time when the emphasis is on the eyes, especially on lashes, with the rest of the face being kept quite nude. The older women would more likely stay with the familiar makeup of 50s and early 60s but young women who were highly influenced by the fashion, TV shows, magazines and music would go for bold eyes copying the very trendy model Twiggy or actresses Brigitte Bardot, Edie Sedgwick, Sophia Loren or Elisabeth Taylor.

Makeup Revolution does hair care? DGJ Organics products - review

Even though I am a beauty enthusiast, junkie, hoarder or whatever else you want to call the obsession with beauty products, I don't tend to spend lots of money and time on my hair. I just do the very basics, shampoo, conditioner and styling, heat protecting product, once in a while, when I'm feeling very adventurous, I would use a deep conditioning mask. I wash my hair nearly every day, although I've been trying to do it every other day just for the sake of my poor hair, so I go through my shampoos and conditioner with a light speed. I've used most brands that are available in the drugstore and I can tell right after a few washes if the products are good for my hair and scalp. And even though it's been long known that avoiding Parabens and SLS in hair care is beneficial to hair I  have to admit that I don't pay much attention to it. So when I was kindly sent some DGJ Organics shampoo and conditioner from Makeup Revolution I was very curious to see how much better they will be from my regular products.

Zoeva 'En Taupe' palette - review and swatches

Zoeva is one of my favourite makeup brands, I love their brushes and I adore their makeup line, especially the eyeshadow palettes. I think their eyeshadows are amazing quality, right next to Urban Decay or Too Faced but definitely more affordable. I have no shame in admitting that I own all Zoeva palettes, and there is not one that disappointed me, so when the brand released their latest En Taupe palette (£15.50) I just had to have it. Apart from being an eyeshadow palettes hoarder I genuinely love taupe shades on my eyes so I was excited to have a palette focused on this colour theme.

Makeup look #31 Golden Topaz - Daytime Glam

If you've been a follower of my blog for some time you know that I love dramatic makeup, experimenting with different colours, etc. but the truth is that most of the time I do wear pretty neutral looks as they're just easier and quicker to create and more appropriate for my daily activities. Today I want to share with you a makeup look that I have been obsessed with since I got the Stila 'Trust in Love' palette (review) as I can't get over the shade Golden Topaz which is just stunning! This makeup requires more then 10 minutes of your time, so maybe not for those 'I hit the snooze button too many times' mornings but it's still easy and quick to do and perfect to wear during the day or night.

Too Faced 'Melted French Kisses' set

Too Faced is bringing the cutest packaging for their Holidays sets, I know, what's inside matters the most but how can you resist adorable, girlie, Paris themed boxes? Right!? If you haven't checked my review of the Le Grand Chateau you should definitely do it and fall in love with it :)
Today I'm excited to share with you the Melted French Kisses set (£22) which includes 4 deluxe sample sizes of Too Faced Melted Lipsticks. These lip products are not new to the beauty market but are completely new to me. I meant to try the Melted Lipsticks but as Too Faced wasn't readily available in UK I never got around to buy any. So when I saw this set and checked the shades that are included I knew it was the perfect opportunity to give these lipsticks a go.

October beauty favourites

How is November already?? Seriously, the older I get the faster the time passes. But on the positive note, now the Halloween is over it's totally acceptable to think, talk about Christmas and start gift shopping. I've already treated myself to some new Holidays gift sets and I can see myself getting some more even before Santa has the chance to look at my Christmas wish list :) Anyway, today I want to share with you my recent beauty favourites so let's start before I rumble on too much. As a beauty junkie/fanatic I try many new things every month, some I love, others I don't like and there are few that are real stand outs which I would buy all over again. And these are the products I will be talking about in this post.

Halloween: dramatic cat eye makeup look

Last week I shared with you 'not so glamorous' Vampire Halloween look and today I want to show you a look perfect for a Halloween night out/party without dressing up but with a bit of edge and more drama then your regular smokey eyes. I have created this kind of cat eye look before many times and it's quite easy to do, you only need to be careful with blending but with the right tools anyone can do it. You can choose whatever colours you like but I chose purple and peachy orange as these shades make me think of Halloween, just be sure to apply black eyeshadow to the outer corner of the eye for the look to stand out more.

Stila 'Trust in Love' set - review

Today I'm excited to share with you another limited edition Holiday 2015 palette, (you can check the other ones here and here), this time from Stila and it's the gorgeous Trust in Love set (£30) which I got from Beauty Bay.  I have to be honest and say that what made me buy the set was the packaging, how gorgeous is it?! Inspired by old style love letters, golden with beautiful design all over it. The truth is I don't need more eyeshadows ( I wouldn't need more even if I was granted another life) but, being a makeup junkie collector, I can't resist a limited edition palette which is so pretty. Fortunately for me the quality of products inside is really good so it's all so much more worth purchasing. I have a few Stila palettes and their eyeshadows are really nice but I find majority of those in this new palette better then any others I've tried. If you're tempted to treat yourself or a friend to this Holiday palette keep on reading to see if it's worth it :)

The perfect base combo for oily/combination skin? Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot primer and foundation - review

Soap & Glory isn't a brand I have tried much from, especially from the makeup line but I've heard lots of good things about their products so when I saw they recently released One Heck of a Blot Primer and Foundation I have ordered them immediately. I've been looking for a new favourite base products and these two from Soap & Glory seemed to be the perfect pair for me: oil controlling, medium/full coverage, lightweight and longwearing. For a reference my skin is combination with normal cheeks and more oily T-Zone, usually a bit dehydrated.
Did they live up to my expectations? Keep on reading to find out :)

Halloween: very easy vampire look - tutorial

With Halloween just around the corner I've decided to join in the madness and share with you my vampire look that I will be rocking next Saturday going 'trick or treating' with my children. In the country I come from we don't really celebrate Halloween (but it has been changing in the recent years) so when growing up I only knew it from American movies and then I got to experience it when I moved to UK. But I never was the one to dress up until the very recent time when my boys are big enough to understand what's Halloween is about and they're looking forward to it and all the sweets of course. So we've decided to make more effort this year and actually create some scary characters to make the day more memorable and fun for our kids.
I had never created any Halloween makeup look so I wanted to go for something quick and easy, using products I already have in my collection, the only extra was the artificial blood which you can find in any shop selling some Halloween costumes, I bought mine in a supermarket.

New from Freedom Makeup, contouring on a budget.

If you're fan of Makeup Revolution brand you must know their sister brand Freedom Makeup who launched earlier this year. They claim to be a pro brand aimed at makeup artists and makeup enthusiast who want to experiment with great quality makeup without the high price. From what I have tried from Freedom Makeup I can say that the quality of their products is really good at this price point, quite on par with Makeup Revolution really and I still don't understand the need of creating a new brand instead of expanding the one that is already doing amazingly well. Anyway, I love makeup, even better if with good quality comes affordability so I'm not complaining. Last week Fredom Makeup has released some new products and I was kindly sent a few of them to try. As usual, we can see many 'dupes' of high end products which is always exciting. I have been using them for the last few days and I'm ready to share with you my first impressions and thoughts on them.

New Max Factor Lipfinity Long Lasting Lipsticks - review

A few weeks ago I was perusing aisles of Boots and found a few new products that caught my eye, one of them being the new Lipfinity Long Lasting Lipsticks by Max Factor (£8.99). They're fairly new, I believe they were launched last Summer and as I had never tried any lipsticks from the brand I decided to get couple of shades. I don't remember reading any reviews about them but I was curious to try lipsticks that promise to be long wearing but moisturising and lightweight.
"Infused with nourishing oils, this long wear lip colour doesn’t crack, crumble or bleed. Up to 8 hours of vibrant, nourished colour that doesn’t dry out lips."

Makeup through the decades #4 1950s, collaboration with Angela from Chocolate and Lipstick

Welcome to 1950s, the golden age of makeup, one of the most glamorous decade! Who doesn't know beauty icons from that time like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Elisabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren whose style is still admired nowadays?! I'm very excited to share with you today's post not only because the makeup was beautiful and classy but also because it's a collaboration with one of my blogging friends, the lovely Angela from Chocolate and Lipstick. Angie has decided to join me on my journey through the decades (check my 1940s, 30s and 20s makeup looks) and recreate the 1950s makeup look inspired by one of her favourite actresses from that time - Audrey Hepburn.
Please, check out her fabulous post fabulous and show her some love!

HoMedics NEWA - Skin Rejuvenation Treatment, 1 month update

A few weeks ago I shared with you my first impressions after one week of using the NEWA - Skin Rejuvenation Treatment. NEWA by HoMedics (£199) is a safe to use at home device which by delivering energy 3 layers deep into the skin reactivates your skin’s natural ability to produce collagen. More natural collagen means your skin is lifted and plumped up, and wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes, face and neck are reduced. (Check my previous post for more details on how to use NEWA). The treatment should last around 12 weeks, the first 4 weeks NEWA needs to be used 5 times a week and then twice a week. I'm now during my 5th week of using it and I'm ready to share my further thoughts on the treatment.

Benefit 'Real Cheeky Party' Holiday set - review

Today I'm sharing with you another makeup set which is a limited edition for Holidays 2015, it's the Real Cheeky Party set by Benefit. I missed out last year's one so as soon as I saw the new one available on Debenhams website I ordered it straight away. I hadn't tried any Benefit blushers or the 'oh so famous' Hoola bronzer before, so I thought this kind of set is a perfect way to try out a few products without a high price tag. Even though I use blush every day, if wearing makeup, I don't like to spend lots of money on one as I feel like drugstore alternatives are good enough. That's the reason why I never bought a single Benefit blush, even though lots of people love and recommend them.
But now I have a whole set to play with which I'm happy about.

Makeup look #30 Autumnal berries using Sleek 'Enchanted Forest' palette

A few weeks ago I bought the latest Sleek palette 'Enchanted Forest' and even though I certainly don't need more eyeshadows, the selection of shades in this palette drew me in, I think they're beautiful and very A/W appropriate ( check my review for swatches). Today I want to share with you one of the makeup looks I've created using this palette and seeing as we're truly in Autumn right now I paired it with berry/plummy lips, my favourites at this time of year.

Too Faced 'Le Grand Château' Holiday set - review

It's October already and if we're not talking about Halloween makeup looks, we're certainly talking about Holiday 2015 limited edition beauty releases. This time of year is absolutely exciting for beauty enthusiasts/junkies like me, nearly every brand brings new products, most of them limited editions, to makes us swoon over them and spend our money even before Christmas :) Last year I got the Everything Nice palette from Too Faced which is beautiful and I love the quality and selection of shades and reach for it quite often. I knew that I will most definitely be tempted by Too Faced Holiday 2015 palettes because they just have the cutest packaging and the quality of their products is great. They have released a few sets , some of them exclusive to Sephora or Ulta in US but one of them is available on the Too Faced website (they ship to UK) and apparently it will be also available in Debenhams, it's the Le Grand Château Christmas in Paris Collection ( sorry for the pictures heavy post, but I wanted to show you all the details).

MAC Craving and its perfect 'dupe'

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen that recently I got my first MAC lipsticks. Yes, you read that right, it took me only few years to join the big following and finally try the cult product, LOL! There is no MAC counter anywhere close to where I live and I couldn't be bothered to try to choose from the hundreds shades of lipsticks online, until couple of weeks ago when I decided to jump on the bandwagon. I bought Brave - Satin finish and Craving - Amplified Crème finish, I love them both but I'm still not entirely sure about all the hype surrounding MAC lipsticks but that's a great topic for another post :) Today I want to share with you the perfect 'dupe' for MAC's Craving, in case you love the shade but want more affordable option.

Makeup through the decades #3 1940s

Welcome to the 1940s! After sharing with you my recreation of 1920s and 1930s makeup looks, today it's time for another decade. 1940s was a time when the makeup industry was growing, with leading brands like Max Factor, Elisabeth Arden, Maybelline and Helena Rubinstein, and not even II World War could stop women from trying to look glamorous, they were wearing makeup already in their teens which was quite revolutionary.
I love makeup trends from that time, more natural but groomed brows, simple eye look with well defined lashes and red lips. This elegant, feminine look was paired with long hair, either let down or in a stylish up-do.

Marula Facial Oil - the latest anti-aging skincare hero

Facial oils have become a big thing in skincare in recent years. Every month you hear of a new, best yet, facial oil. I admit that I was quite hesitant to use oils on my combination/oily skin but after reading lots of positive reviews I finally gave in to a facial oil some time last year and I was impressed with it. It didn't make my skin oilier but it helped with dehydration and dry patches I had at the time. I've been using on and off some oil for my face and with the cold season upon us it's almost a must for me to keep my skin nicely hydrated. My latest best friend in the 'facial oil' category is the Marula Facial Oil by John Paul Selects* (£37.50).

Subtle smokey grey eyes with SEVENTEEN Cosmetics

SEVENTEEN is a budget friendly brand that often gets overlooked, especially by women over 20s as it seems like it's a brand for teenagers with its name suggesting it and the general look of their products. But the truth is, that there are some brilliant makeup items that can be used by a person at any age and what's even better, everything is very affordable.
I have tried some SEVENTEEN products in the past, like their Stay Time foundation which I really liked, Skin Wow Primer, great alternative to Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector or Phwoarr Paint Under Eye Concealer which is fantastic, although a bit too drying under the eyes for a woman my age but amazing to conceal any blemishes etc.
When people behind the Boots Team (SEVENTEEN is Boots own brand) asked if I want to try some SEVENTEEN products I didn't hesitate.

Makeup look #29 Autumnal burgundy eyes and lips

Today I'm back with an Autumnal makeup look as the season is well and truly upon us and I just love deep red, burgundy and berry tones on my eyes and lips. To create the eye makeup I used the latest Makeup Revolution palette New-Trals vs Neutrals* (review) which is just perfect for this time of the year, and for my lips - deep red shade. The overall look is quite glamorous and evening appropriate but could be easily toned down by switching to a nude lipstick and leaving out the winged eye liner.

Looking after the eye area with Ole Henriksen eye creams

I have used eye creams since my early twenties as I 've always thought that preventing wrinkles and looking after the very delicate area is the best approach. My first eye creams were just light hydrating gels/creams but as I got older I started looking for more nourishing formulas. I've tried lots, some were better then others but strangely, it was always hard to see any difference in my under eye area. My latest eye creams are the ones that I feel they actually are working, they were recommended to me by Ole Henriksen as a part of the #RealUsersRealResults campaign (check my skincare routine posts here and here). While I'm yet to have deep wrinkles, fine, dehydration lines were quite visible but lately my skin has looked much more hydrated, smoother and younger.

Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick 'After Dark'

Every now and then I treat myself to a lipstick that needs to be talk about in its own blog post because it's a love from the first swatch ( check my posts here and here). Today's the day to introduce you to my newest lipstick obsession, the Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in the shade After Dark.
One day I was casually browsing beauty websites (as you do) and came across Urban Decay lipsticks, my attention got the new matte range, and particularly that one shade, perfect for Autumn which is right upon us. And before I knew it my order was confirmed and the new lipstick was on the way. I love dark, vampy lips for this time of the year!

Makeup through the decades #2 1930s

Today I'm excited to share with you another post in my 'Makeup through the decades' series, the 1930s makeup (check the 1920s makeup post). I have so much fun researching makeup trends from the decade and trying to recreate the look and I hope you'll enjoy the post.
Makeup became very popular in 1930s and was highly influenced by Hollywood with fabulous Greta Garbo, Ginger Rogers or Marlene Dietrich as an example. Gone were the days of the intensive 1920s black eye makeup and boy-ish, rebellious flapper style. Instead, more feminine look was popular, softer, romantic makeup and hair style.

HoMedics NEWA - Skin Rejuvenation Treatment, first impressions

Being in my mid thirties means that good skincare routine is more important to me now then ever before, (check my current skincare routine), obviously, who doesn't want to stay looking younger for longer? And while I take all the anti-aging 'miracles' with a pinch of salt, I'm sure looking after your skin from outside and inside makes a big difference in its appearance. When I was offered to test the NEWA Skin Rejuvenation Treatment by HoMedics I hesitated a bit as, even though I'm not against facial procedures like Botox or Fillers, I'm not willing to do any of this invasive treatments at the moment. But a quick Google search assured me that NEWA is a non invasive, clinically proven system that works by delivering energy (heat) 3 layers deep into the skin, reactivating the natural collagen producing process. Considering that no cream/serum/mask can do this I was sold :)

Discovering Glo & Ray makeup

One of the things that I love about blogging is discovering new beauty brands, either through reading other blogs or getting opportunities to try new products. When I was offered to try some Glo & Ray products I quickly agreed as I have seen the brand featured on some blogs I read and I was curious about it.
Glo & Ray is a British company which made its debut in September 2012. Its inspiration is the natural wonder of light which led to a collection of makeup designed to illuminate each woman's natural beauty.

Makeup Makeover #2 Subtle smokey eyes

Today I'm bringing you another makeup makeover (check my first one here), this time done on my beautiful cousin Agnieszka. While being on our holidays we spent a few days with my family and as my cousin wanted me to do her makeup we thought it would be nice to share it with you guys. Agnieszka wanted an evening look but considering it was a VERY hot Summer day ( I was sweating while sitting, glamorous, I know!) I didn't want to go very heavy with the makeup but still wanted to make it look a bit smokey and sultry. So I went with some bronze and gold shades for her eyes and kept the rest of the face very subtle and neutral. I love how her blue eyes popped with this look, so beautiful!

Makeup Revolution 'New-Trals vs Neutrals' palette - review and swatches

Eyeshadow palettes are my biggest weakness when it comes to makeup and I have collected a lot of them in the last couple of years but I have reached a point when not every single palette excites me which is a big statement, believe me :) But every now and then a new palette is released and if it's a bit more different from what I have already I will be all over it. That was the case with the new palette from Makeup Revolution 'New-Trals vs Neutrals'. While being on holidays I saw on Instagram that the brand has released this palette and I knew that I will add it to my collection as soon as I'm back in UK. So imagine how pleased I was when after arriving home I saw that Makeup Revolution kindly sent me this palette for a review :)
And just look at it! Isn't it the perfect Autumnal palette? So pretty!

Inglot Cosmetics haul - swatches and first impressions

Hello all! I'm back from my little break and while I thoroughly enjoyed our holidays it's good to start blogging again :)
As I feel tiny bit rusty after two weeks of staying away from the internet (apart from Instagram, you need to do something while lounging on the beach, don't you?) I thought I would just ease myself in with a quick post about my beauty purchases done while being in Poland and specifically my Inglot haul. I didn't get crazy to be honest, I think I'm at the point when I have realised how much makeup I already own which need to be actually used and I control my beauty shopping a bit more. Having said that, I could not missed the opportunity to visit Inglot shop which are hard to come by in UK and also prices here are about 30%-40% higher then in Poland, crazy, I know. Surprisingly I didn't buy any eyeshadows, just couple of pigments, as I wanted to try different products from the brand and I already have tons of eyeshadows to use. I had a little makeup makeover done by a lovely lady at the counter and most of the products I bought were the ones she used doing my makeup.
Let me share with you all the beauty bits I got.

Makeup through the decades #1 1920s

I love makeup, I love how it can change the way I look, the way it makes me feel and the process of applying it. But I also love the history behind it, how it evolved through the decades, how the trends has been changing. To add a bit more interest to my weekly makeup looks I decided to start a new series on my blog: Makeup through the ages.
Once a month I will be going back in time, talking about trends in makeup back then and trying to re-create the makeup from that time. I'm kicking off the series today with the 1920s when the makeup became very popular amongst all women, not just actresses and prostitutes.
