If you've seen my Christmas wish list you know that one of the gifts on it was the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette. I had wanted to have it for so long but the price tag of £45 was putting me off. A few weeks ago Debenhams had 10% off of beauty and that's when I convinced my husband he should get me this palette as my Christmas present. And so he did :)
But as I am very impatient creature, I wasn't able to wait till Christmas to start playing with this beauty so here I am, reviewing the Chocolate Bar palette after couple of weeks of using it.
To start, can we just take a moment to appreciate how cute is the box in which the palette comes?
It looks like a packaging of actual chocolate bar, so pretty! On its back we have some information about eye shadows including their names.
The palette comes also with a little 'How to..' guide with three different eye makeup looks to help those who need some inspirations.
The palette is made of a metal tin and resembles the chocolate bar. The packaging is sturdy but the magnetic closure is not very strong and I think it might open accidentally.
When you open the palette you are greeted with the smell of chocolate ( eye shadows are infused with Cocoa powder) and 16 gorgeous eye shadows ranging from matte to shimmery. Inside there is a small mirror and a plastic sheet with eye shadow names written on it.
All the names are chocolate inspired and sound really cute and yummy :)
Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette contains mostly neutral shades with some burgundy and purple ones. They are all beautiful and perfect for every day but equally useful to create an evening eye look.
The pigmentation of all these shadows is amazing, they are very soft but not powdery, they blend beautifully and stay all day on my lids. There is very minimal fall out with only some of the shadows.
On to the swatches.
White Chocolate, Milk Chocolate and Triple Fudge are matte shadows, Black Forest Truffle has golden glitter which tend to fall out unfortunately. Gilded Ganache is a shade quite unique in my collection - khaki brown with golden sparkle.
Here are some of my favourite shades! The only one that is harder to work with is Candied Violet which is quite sheer and should be apply over a dark base for the colour to pop.
I love all the shades in this row and while Cherry Cordial swatches quite patchy it blends effortlessly and evenly on the eye lids. Champagne Truffle works as a beautiful highlighter.
I've been playing with this palette for a couple of weeks and I absolutely love using it, especially for day time eye looks. Here's one of them:
I used Marzipan all over my lid with Amaretto in outer part of the lid and lower lash line and Champagne Truffle in the inner corners. I blended the shadows with Milk Chocolate into my crease and smoked out the outer corner with Triple Fudge.
If you'd like to see more dramatic makeup look using the Chocolate Bar palette keep an eye on Friday's post when I will share with you my another festive makeup :)
Do you own Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette? What do you think of it?
I've just found out that Too Faced has released Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette and I can't wait to be able to get it!
