I love eyeshadows! It's my favourite make up item. Unfortunately I don't have time to play with them every single day, just on weekends, when my husband is a t home and can help with our boys, I get to enjoy creating different looks using my growing collection of eyeshadow palettes .
On one of my visits to Boots my attention was caught by this little Maybelline eyeshadow quad Big Eyes in Luminous Turquoise. It's such a pretty combination of pastel colours perfect for Spring and Summer.
It contains 4 shades, the middle one is a pearl white perfect for highlighting the inner eye corner and under brow bone, light grey shade, pale pink and so summery blue-turquoise. The packaging is very simple, your usual plastic drugstore compact. They come in 5 different colour variations and cost £6.99 in Boots.
The formula of these eyeshadows is quite good, they are very soft and easy to blend but a bit powdery so there is minimal fallout, especially with the grey shade. The pigmentation is average and to achieve the shade like in a pan I needed to build up a colour. The finish of these eyeshadows is kind of frosty without any shimmer, just subtle sheen.
To get the most of this pretty quad I strongly recommend using eyelid primer to make the colours more vivid and extend the wear time of these eyeshadows. With primer, I used e.l.f. one, they lasted around 6 hours in a good condition, after this time I noticed some fading.
In overall it's a nice eyeshadow quad, perfect for those who want to try and experiment with different colours but don't want to invest in more expensive palettes. Also as it's a small compact makes it ideal to take it on holidays or weekend away.
And here is the look I came up with using Maybelline Big Eyes in Luminous Turquoise.
I applied the pink shade all over my lid, with the grey one blended into the crease and the turquoise on my lower lid. In my inner eye corner I used the white shadow to brighten my eyes and make them look bigger. Then I lined my waterline with white kohl to help the colour to pop and applied a thin line of black pencil to my upper lid to define the eyes. Then I applied mascara to my lashes.
As you can see it's a very subtle, summery look, very wearable and can be used day or night. I kept make up of the rest of my face very delicate and natural, just to go nicely with the light, pastel look. I like it and will be definitely recreating this look over Spring and Summer months.
Have you tried any of the Maybelline Big Eyes eyeshadows? What do you think of the look I created?
