I love my skincare routine, always cleanse, tone, and moisturise my face with addition of some masks every other day. But I never actually used any serum. With my rather oily skin I didn't feel the need for extra care apart from my usual day and night cream.
But after reading too many beauty blogs I've learnt that serum is not just extravagant addition to your skincare but essential to beautiful skin as it's a highly concentrated product that contains approximately ten times more of biologically active substances than creams and therefore works quicker and more effectively. So my search for the perfect serum has began.
My skin is oily with enlarged pores that get clogged way too much, but also it gets red, tight and uncomfortable after being exposed to external factors like sun, cold, heat or even after cleansing it.
So when I was given the opportunity to try Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum 30ml (*) I got excited to see how will it work on my skin.
Avene is a French brand I've known it existed for years but never actually tried anything. As I used to focus only on the oily side of my skin I was never looking into products for sensitive skin.
Avene cosmetics contain Avene Thermal Spring Water with soothing and anti-irritating properties proven by many scientific studies.
This Soothing Hydrating Serum is also rich in Glycerin which is great for moisturising.
The packaging is a lovely frosted glass bottle with a pump which is great for hygiene reasons but also minimises wastage.
I've been using the serum twice a day applying it to my face and neck after cleansing and before my usual moisturiser. The consistency of this serum is very light, gel like that absorbs quickly without leaving any greasy residue. Immediately the skin feels hydrated and soft.
It's been only 10 days since I've started using Avene serum but already I can see a difference. The red dry patches around my chin disappeared, the skin feels soothed and more supple. And, what's very important for me, my face is less oily. I wouldn't believe that product not specifically sebum controlling can reduce the greasiness if it wasn't for my own skin. Honestly, I think I've been too harsh for my face using only products claiming to reduce imperfections and uneven skin tone. My conclusion is, this serum has restored balance and soothed my skin so it doesn't need to produce so much oil to protect itself. I've realised my skin is not only oily but also sensitive and I need to take this into account while buying new skincare products.
I'm very happy I got to try the Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum and it has become an important part of my skincare routine. I already started looking at other products from Avene.
If you think this serum is something you'd like to try you can buy it from Escentual for £12.75 at the moment, RRP £17. They have until the end of March 1/3 off French Pharmacy which is a great offer to stock up on your favourites and a good excuse to try new products.
Have you tried any Avene products? What can you recommend?
